I’ll start this thread by saying that, even after God-only-knows how many times I’ve seen Lu perform live, she and her shows continue to affect me in unexpected ways. I’ve heard Highway 20 live probably a dozen times (conservatively), but I was gut-punched at The Ryman when I realized that *my* Highway 20 is I-5 and also Aurora Avenue (Route 99) in Seattle, where I spent a spell growing up in “run down motels” as she describes (SamashSea will know what I describe)… every exit leaves a little death. How did I not realize this before?? Anyway, I was moved anew.
I’m sure Roger will add, but the highlights of the Ryman show for me were the haunting Faith & Grace with just Lu, and Steal Your Love. As yet another sign of the eternal alchemy of Lu’s lyrics, Concrete and Barbed Wire has new relevance today (“This wall divides us…”). Also, the acoustics at the Ryman are truly blessed… the sound is great no matter the seat, even up close where often you have to trade sound quality for proximity.
Must return to work to “get that bread” as the kids say 🙂

Lucinda and all of the musicians love the venue and it brings out there best.
Good to see you and Stoger if only briefly.April 5, 2019 at 1:44 am #81613tonygKeymasterI was hoping we would get reports from the Ryman. Thanks!

Good seeing music lover/Kelly, along with Vivian and Atlanta friends whose Forum handle I’ve forgotten.
Last night was Hattiesburg, MS, where Lu felt at home–good old deep south. the post CW songs included “Pineola” and “Hard Time Killing floor blues.”
How about “Faith & Grace” in Nashville, Viv?
That’s all for now. House of Blues should rock.
P.S. How about those Lauderdale facial expressions, Viv?
