Faith&Grace/Get Right With GodOn Stage at 8:10 ish, off 10:10/10:15, no break between Car Wheels and the rest of the show, until encore. I am not going to be a spoiler. Car Wheels was done in sequence. It was presented in a way so special, that I can not do it justice. Sound was fairly close to prefect. Sold out, place seats slightly over 1000.
November 4, 2018 at 2:11 am #81493tonygKeymasterThanks for the awesome report! Here is the setlist and some remarks from TO:
A little backstory behind last nights show. About 4-5 years ago somebody, we don’t remember who gave us a dvd with a few minutes of Lucinda and family packing up and leaving to go (or coming home -Lucinda is not quite sure) to Mexico in 1969. The “home movie”—and it is the only footage of Lu and family that exists. I went to find it after we got home from the Greenville festival, thinking I knew exactly where it was. Of course it wasn’t there. I had the idea of using as part of the CW shows so now I was frantically tearing my office apart for the better part of a week -to no avail. I was completely frustrated because we were running out of time to use it for the CW show. My last idea was that I may’ve given to our social media person -and sure enough that’s where it was. That was the good news -because Lucinda had not seen it up to this point (2 weeks ago). Upon seeing it she just speechless, it was hugely emotional and of course there were a lot of tears. She said “it’s like having three minutes of my life back that I never knew existed”—that was a pretty great moment. Now back to the bad news– we only had a little over a week to pull it all together. But somehow we got it all done with only hours to spare. Lucinda had only seen two small parts of it before she went on stage last night-the opening and the section with 2 Kool To Be Forgotten, so we were flying blind and in addition in took some doing to get file uploaded and working with the projection system. Somehow it all came together.
A few other notes about the visual content -we wanted to really make these CW shows extra special so this is the first time we’ve had any kind of video as part of a Lu show. Many of the pictures are from her personal scrapbooks. Other photos are unseen photos are unseen photos by Shelby Lee Adams from the original CW photo shoot. Not only has no one ever seen them they had never been developed -Lucinda had the negatives that had to get developed in a rush. The handwiritten lyrics that flash up on the screen from time to time are the original handwritten lyrics from the time she was working on song. Don’t know how we pulled it all together in a week but we did. We hope you enjoyed it.
