“Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller and Lucinda Williams are among the all stars reportedly set to perform during a special set at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
Those artists are performing as part of Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees, an eight-city tour that includes a stop at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass on Oct. 8. Other stops on the tour include in Los Angeles and Dallas.”
Hate it when a couple of announced Lucinda appearances in my neck of the woods get by me to the point of being sold out by the time I learn of it..
Had read this Lampedusa tour was happening a few months ago, but at the time there was no mention of Lu playing it. I knew she was playing Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, and am still deciding on making the trip, but now that I see these benefit concerts are also in Seattle and Portland, I may make then part of a road trip (providing I can snag tix)
I think perhaps several artists were added after the announcement including Lu.. looks like an amazing line-up..
The tour will travel from Seattle to Dallas October 3-15 and will feature renowned singer-songwriters Joan Baez, Brandi Carlile,Lila Downs, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, The Mastersons, Dave Matthews, Buddy Miller, James McMurtry, Alynda Segarra, Lucinda Williams, and special guests.

September 13, 2017 at 9:47 pm #74358Mike_DoranParticipantOops..

-MIke
Also.. Anyone from the ff attending??
September 14, 2017 at 7:44 pm #74361stogerParticipantI knew you were not Burning any Bridges, Mike, just inf0-sharing. I have a few of Morlix’s records and like his stuff. But no, no CA jaunt this time for this Tennessee boy, alas.
September 28, 2017 at 12:49 am #74433paul_from_losangelesParticipantThe detailed schedule for Hardly Strictly now appears at http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2017/.
For those who seek the company of 250,000 persons to view a music experience on 7 stages, Lucinda will be performing twice on Sunday, Oct. 8:
(1) as part of LampedUSA, at 2:45-3:35 PM, and
(2) her own set, at 5:50-7:00 PM.September 28, 2017 at 3:10 am #74434Mike_DoranParticipantThanks Paul..
Hadn’t seen that they posted the daily schedule yet.. Working out an itinerary as I type. Looking forward to being at both Lu performances.
The crowds are definitely a challenge.. one that traveling solo I usually have pretty good luck/skill at navigating. But each year is getting a little more difficult, must admit.
Another nice thing about this festival is the local concerts by some of the artists around town in the evenings. Likely going to a Chuck Prophet show and perhaps the Wood Brothers this trip. Last time Lu played she did a local show, but nothing this year it appears. An in store appearance at Amoeba records to promote album would be cool.. Just a thought. 😎
October 8, 2017 at 5:01 pm #74530paul_from_losangelesParticipantNote that many performances from Hardly Strictly are being streamed live, and are archived for later viewing.
www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2017/webcast
On Saturday, I watched Lillie Mae’s set on my home computer, and I was very impressed by the professional quality of the video feed–at least 4 live cameras mixed into the feed, with high-definition views of the large audience, stage, singers, and musicians.
Today, on Sunday, Lucinda will be playing, and (subject to performer approval) Lucinda might be included in the video feed. Concurrent performances are being streamed, so you can switch between different stages. If you have multiple devices and sufficient internet bandwidth, you might view multiple stages simultaneously–for example, Lucinda and Emmy Lou, both between 5:50 and 7 PM.
October 8, 2017 at 5:28 pm #74531paul_from_losangelesParticipantNote: To find Lillie Mae’s performance in the archives, select Buddy Miller’s Cavalcade of Allstars, and move the time slider to between 1:55 hours and 2:35 hours.
October 8, 2017 at 6:00 pm #74532tonygKeymasterThanks Paul!
October 8, 2017 at 8:49 pm #74535tonygKeymasterWatching Aaron Lee Tasjan right now. Killer video and audio. Fingers crossed for a Lu webcast.
October 8, 2017 at 9:51 pm #74537tonygKeymaster😛 And we are live! Lu too.
October 8, 2017 at 9:53 pm #74538tonygKeymasterWho is the electric guitarist at the far left?
edit: Patty Griffin’s guitarist David Pulkingham per EmmyLou.
