19 Honeybee

21 Rockin’ in the Free worldI forgot to note that the night before (and here too, notice), there was no solo mini-set within the main set. I kind of like that, even though I love “When I Look at the World” and like “Ghosts.” The bottom line: more time on stage for the Butch-ster!!!!!!!!!

August 23, 2017 at 5:16 pm #74259stogerParticipantGreat crowd, historic and roomy room. But as I commented in a text to Tom and Matt before the show, the town failed to impress. I believe “kitsch” and “gaudy” were quotes from said text.
August 23, 2017 at 5:23 pm #74262tonygKeymasterIt is a good place to get tatoos. Or tatooed, as it were. Now you know why I vacation 20 miles north in Maine. 😕

Well what I was saying about beach club rock n places after Dewey Beach certainly stayed very much true to form. Both coasts have several of these old ballrooms from the 40’s & 50’s that are just really cool to play. The Hamton Beach Casino reminded all of us of the one we played in Santa Cruz in January. The history contained in between the walls just brings something out of everybody. This was another transendant night and the last of the US leg of this run. Lu was exhausted but the crowd just took her over from the very beginning. Amazing night with many highlights -some were saying it was the best version of Ventura in a long time. And when we finished the night with Rockin’ In The Free World I think the room came off. What a fantastic and fulfilling run on so many levels. On to Europe. The next day we got a message from a guy who said Lucinda’s show was the first show he had seen in that room since Janis Joplin in 1969- and the he added that Lu was every bit as good. Nice.
