Yes, “music lover” and “railroad” swelled the ranks, plus myself, “Lafayette”, “vmorris” and “west words.” Lillie Mae Rische, Frank Rische, and Marla Booker were among the musicians in attendance–the former two had to cut out early to make their 10 a.m. set at Layla’s, well attended by some of the above. Wish Jersey had been there.

The show, the guests and the FF companions made for a wonderful evening at the Ryman. We were consecrated by Lu at the Mother Church. I want to point out yet another reason to love Lu: At the end of Jimi Hendrix’s Angel, Lu had tears in her eyes. She remains touched and moved by the music she plays and the lyrics that she sings, each and every time. It’s that connection that she transmits to the audience. It’s true and pure and hard to find. Thank God for Lucinda.

My personal experience of Angel last night is that it was for the mothers on Mother’s Day who are on the other side and the children on this side who miss them very much.

Thanks, West Words, for the timely set list posting. 😀

The FF indeed was represented. Perhaps one day, I’ll recognize ‘railroad’ and ‘mrsrailroad’ first before they shout out to me. And, I’m fairly certain I won’t forget ‘musiclover’ next time. The pre show get together was awesome.

The music and the friendships, Lu moves me like no other. I was so happy to hear ‘2 Kool’ again as well. Thank you, set list gods.

TO, we really do appreciate the time and effort you put in when making up the set list. It’s always on point.

Roger, you’re 10:00 a.m. meeting must have weighed heavy on your mind. The Risches departed for a 10 PM set. Phew, I tired watching them play. Amazing energy.

Perfect way to cap off this past eight week run of shows!

I have never caught this Instagram crowd sourcing site before tonight. Most of the photos are Ryman related. My photo is in the third one. Whoops on the hashtag misspell. Old eyes.

EDIT to add: I forgot about the Hatch prints. AWESOME photos of prints from the Ryman show are included in this aggregate.

What a great show on Sunday night. I couldn’t have imagined both Buddy Miller *and* Jason Isbell would join Lu on stage, they’re two of my favorite players. I saw that Amanda was playing the Grand Ole Opry a few days before, so I wasn’t completely shocked – and at one point there was some movement on the side of the stage and I told my g.f. that it kinda looked like Jason. What a nice surprise and a festive way to close out the tour.

My favorite crowd reaction was someone that yelled: “Best Mother’s Day EVER!!!”

I was lucky enough to see both Chicago/City Winery shows (Sept ’15) as well as the Old Town School of Folk shows (Apr ’16) and this Ryman show. I would LOVE to see a download series or commercial CD release of some of these live shows. Or a compilation – but *something*. Just too much good music to not document this phase of Lu’s career. Buick 6 is sounding so good backing Lu, such a great time to see her live. Hopefully that’s something that can happen.
