The Full Frame Festival in Durham, NC this last weekend featured a documentary called Two Trains Runnin’ about “the search for two forgotten blues singers, Son House and Skip James, set in Mississippi during the height of the civil rights movement. Directed by Sam Pollard [executive produced by Common!] and featuring the music of Gary Clark Jr., with all-new musical performances by Clark, Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams, Chris Thomas King, North Mississippi Allstars, and more.” I can’t believe I missed the film at the festival, and maybe I missed info about Two Trains Runnin’ on FF or Facebook, but does anyone know about Lu’s involvement with the film? Where to get a snip of her performance in the film (I’m assuming it was Hard Time Killing Floor Blues)? I’m going to try to still see the film somehow, somewhere.

Also, I was thinking today about what my (personal) ideal Lu setlist would be — what would be on it, why, in what order. I may just give it a whirl and post it. Not as a suggestion to Lu or anything like that, but as a reflection of my personal relationship with her music. I bet we all could curate our own setlists! A possible FF challenge, or too personal??

This is a must see, Viv. I believe this title is also the title of an August Wilson play–or close.

Let’s hope Tom can shed some light.
