I’m still tired from Monday so I won’t be 100% tonight. Just sayin’. 😉
February 25, 2015 at 7:28 pm #53998GrumpyMamaParticipantI’m not tired from Monday and I’m never 100%. And, when have you been 100%, ever?
February 25, 2015 at 7:43 pm #53999tonygKeymasterI was 100% on the day of my birth. Every day since, I have probably topped out around 79%.
February 26, 2015 at 2:28 am #54000TomOverbyParticipant79% is pretty good –is there an app for that?
February 26, 2015 at 4:53 am #54001tonygKeymasterYes! Through a magical process, I am sitting down in the section reserved for the top level people. Buick 6 are on stage and grooving on heavy tunes.

February 26, 2015 at 5:55 pm #54004DDinNJParticipantFrom the lower echelon, Although LU claimed ( at the end of the show ) she started stressed out when she went on, I thought she was solid, but about mid way she did put her foot on the gas and at some point declared something like…..I’m not just a folk singer, I can…..ROCK!!!!!! Foolishness the extended version is great and maybe its because we are out here on our 24th Honeymoon, but again Essence was outstanding
February 26, 2015 at 6:02 pm #54005tonygKeymasterI looked for you down there among the huddled masses, DDinNJ, but I did not see you. Glad you made the show. My remarks will be posted shortly.
February 26, 2015 at 6:27 pm #54006tonygKeymasterSince my mind is blown by 2 consecutive awesome shows, I am going to have to post my remarks in a stream of consiousness style. I am not coherent enough to piece together my usual narrative. I hope Mr. Stoger does not throw a penalty flag at this departure from literary decorum.
I had the best seat in the house; the balcony, front and center from Lu. Not too shabby.
Lu did seem a little wound up when she took the stage but it did not affect her performance. She was clear voiced and into it. It was 3 songs or so before her first smile.
As great as Monday’s show was, I liked this one better due to the set list.
Buick 6 opened the show with the usual instrumental stylings. Butch was the emcee.
Speaking of Butch, I sat next to his friend, Dr. Ernie, and Dr. Ernie’s wife. Dr. Ernie referred to our drummer only as “Jonathan” at all times. Dr. Ernie has been gifted guitars by Jackson Browne and David Lindley.
On the other side of me sat Lu’s great friend and super photographer Peggy French. Peggy’s pictures will be the definitive ones from this show and any other Lu show she attends.
Matt Blake’s awesome CD has been playing before and after each show. Matt is the Merch Guy. His CD is produced by Doug Pettibone and Lu sings on one song. You should buy several copies. Really.
Lu went the extra mile on Foolishness, her longest rant yet I would say. She really expressed herself. You hafta catch this for yourself.
As DDin NJ stated, Lu was proud to rock out. She attributed her stressed-out status to the traffic battles we have to endure here in La La land. She stated that her performance had “healing powers” and by the end of the show all things were right in her world. Lu further stated that if you were a musician and your music was not “healing” then you were in the wrong business. So there!
Stuart really has Lu’s catalog dialed in. He has been super great. His parents were there but did not run me over this time.
The wine served at The Troubadour is the worst rot gut grape fluid I have ever consumed. It was all I could do to not spit it out. Needing alcohol, I guzzled it instead.
There was a cavalcade of famous FF members in attendance: Paul from Los Angeles (he is from Los Angeles) was snug as a bug at the corner of the stage, next to Cindy who was also at Monday’s show, GrumpyMama and Stellablueee, a reprise of our twin-Lisa attack, and DDin NJ, who I did not see and I regret my lack of hospitality.
We learned mid-show that the Pomona show has been cancelled. Don’t go to Pomona. Go to the show at the Regent instead.
Speaking of The Regent, where I have never been, it’s location makes me wonder if I should be packing the following: mace, brass knuckles, a knife, a revolver, and a large person as a bodyguard. Time will tell. Looks like a 100% standing show. Awesome.
Great to see everyone. I love going to bed at 2:30 and getting up at 5:30, the second time this week. Everyone should do this. Really.
I may add more musings to this during the day and pretend that they were here from the beginning all along.
February 26, 2015 at 6:45 pm #54007paul_from_losangelesParticipantThanks, tonyg, for your lucid report.
Yes, I was left-stage-front with Cindy, watching Lucinda the folk singer; I retreated back to the side exit with stellablueee and grumpymama, when Lucinda the rocker appeared–then I climbed back to the Loft to end my evening.
Just a silly question…did someone actually announce that Pomona was cancelled? I didn’t read about the cancellation until this morning, just surfing at webpages.
February 26, 2015 at 6:58 pm #54008tonygKeymasterI saw it on Lu’s FB page and it was confirmed with her manager.

Yours is a fine specimen of style meeting content successfully, tony. Rock on.
