The song is also referenced in the book on which the movie is based! In Cheryl Strayed’s memoir Wild about her solo trek on the Pacific Coast Trail after her mother’s death and her own self-destruction, she talks about one day on the trail when she filled the time by deciphering the lyrics to Lucinda Williams’ “Something About What Happens When We Talk.” It was a nice shout-out to our Lovely One in a bestselling book. 🙂 It would be cool if that’s how the song is included in the movie itself! Didn’t you once meet Cheryl Strayed, Viv? At any rate, find a thread to tell us about the Jayhawks show, OK?

Not worth a separate thread, but speaking of movies…

Recently saw “The Judge” (recommended, but not a rave; worth it to see Duvall in action at age 83). There’s this scene in a bar, and it sure sounded like “Reason to Cry” on the jukebox. My ears perked up, but it turned out to be only a snippet. 😥

I’m guessing that they used the new version that they asked Lu to do.
