Typical setlist for an outdoor show such as this… mostly Lu’s “rock” songs. Beautiful day, and the city was full of people. Lu was not the only show in town. Buddy Guy was playing, along with their annual free Jazz Fest…all within 2 city blocks. That being said, it was a good crowd for Lu($5.00 tix). A local duo started the festivities around 6:00pm, then KBB had a solid set….they seemed to like the environment. The show was part of Rochester’s Party in the Park Summer Concert Series. Quite a departure from some of the more “sterile” venues.
Lu came on around 8:00-8:15pm, and rocked the place for 2hrs. Not bad, for 5 bucks : )
The guy at the sound board had it cranked up to eleven!!! At times, it was abit much….when people all around you are plugging their ears, you may want to bring it down a notch…just a thought.
Besides a wicked nasty feedback issue in David’s ear monitor early on, everyone was in good spirits, and delivered one of the loudest, most rockin’ Lu show I’ve seen. I love Pettibone, but I have to say, Stuart is a beast this tour.
Standouts include: Changed The Locks… with Lu fully committed vocally, Are You Down…great jam, Out Of Touch, Rockin’ In The Free World, and Get Right With God…strong finish with Lu clapping, dancing, and the band firing on all cylinders.
