Egads to those visuals. Words? Later, soon.

22 Get Right with God [with Susan Cowsill + the whole KBB, including its third drummer in the last week]She fumbled the lyrics to “The Night’s Too Long” but rallied in fine fettle, saying “My fans are smart; they’re going to notice.” Toward the end, she substitutes “Dixie” for “Corona.”
Early in set, she praises the “punk label” Rough Trade for taking a chance on her and speculates that her having fallen through the cracks between country & rock is now called “Americana” territory.
Mark will miss sound duty in Bristol because he is working Farm Aid. Lafayette?
Good to meet “vmorris” (not her exact handle) from this Forum, also to see Randy & Kathy from Alabama (Randy gives a shout-out to tntracy). I believe Randy’s front-row brow is visible in that photo. Also, the N.O. music photographer Erica was there and active–seen her at multiple Lu shows through the years, also photographing Jazz Fest. I believe all these folks will be there again tonight.
The good times did indeed roll, in any language. And don’t forget to rub the Professor Longhair bust/statue for good luck.
September 16, 2013 at 6:37 pm #52273tonygKeymasterGreat report! Sounds like a good time. Was the place full?
September 16, 2013 at 6:51 pm #52274parkercaParticipantSounds like a great show. I want to catch one of Lu’s New Orleans shows at some point.
September 16, 2013 at 7:30 pm #52275DDinNJParticipantTo the newly framed Mr “S” if that is you with the ball cap, I believe we sat at the table next to your’s in the bar at Stubb’s. If that be the case, unfortunately an opportunity missed. Thank you for the reporting.

Purt near full, as they say down South, Tony. Not quite sold out.

I love your posts. It truly is living Lu shows vicariously through you. New Orleans is on my bucket list as a travel destination for a Lu show. Next time, I hope.
Yessss! I will be at Farm Aid. Is he helping with sound, I assume? I’m volunteering this year and was assigned the sweet gig of working the press event and possibly an artist/media escort to the press event. My husband, however, doesn’t think that sounds so cool, the escort part. 😆
September 17, 2013 at 6:20 pm #52281LafayetteParticipantI’m thinking Mark will be with the Neil Young entourage at Farm Aid, after reading thru the Cain’s thread. I’ll keep an eye out for him pre show and post show.

That “brow” of mine is looking more like “skull” every day!

September 18, 2013 at 2:10 am #52283vmorrisParticipantHi Stoger, Great to meet you also! And always good to hear Lu live in the Crescent City performing “Crescent City.” KBB also did authentic southern rock proud both nights. When they opened for Lucinda at the Chicago City Winery shows, I think the KBB band was pared down, and they are really fantastic with a full band (“we blew through the money so damn fast, on cigarettes, diapers and citgo gas” — great songwriting, too). I will definitely pick up their next CD. Perfect venue, although with SRO it’s tough to arrive before 8pm and then stand for another hour after KBB for Lucinda (I think she took the stage at 10pm both nights). It seems like she used to take the stage by 9:30. Anyway, as always, Lucinda was lovely and both Tip shows were affairs of the heart. I’m taking five friends to the show in Saxapahaw on Weds as my birthday celebration, so life is good. Viva la Lucinda! Take care, VMo
