    Okay, who’s going? stoger?

I haven’t seen Lucinda since World Without Tears was released. I don’t get to many live shows like some of you here at the FF, so I am extremely stoked. I’ll be there along with my sister and her husband who are Lu fans as well. They had “Like a Rose” played at their wedding. The possibility that we may get to hear that song live is too cool.

Stoger will indeed–in the home county of his birth, Sullivan, which comprises both Bristol and Kingsport. I go to this festival roughly every other year anyway, though it’s at the other end of the state from where I live now. Yes, “Like a Rose” might come up, though you realize the Bristol show is not a self-titled 25th special format. As you say, though, it’s 2 kool 2 b 4 gotten that some of the Rough Trade songs might be played there too.

I wasn’t aware that you are from the Bristol area, Stoger. 2 cool indeed!
I wasn’t expecting Lu to be doing the Rough Trade set but thought the chances might be favorable since ‘Like a Rose’ has been fresh on her tongue lately (again) and the fact that there will be about 10,000 fiddle players at the festival no doubt willing to set in with her for a tune or two. No matter what she plays, I’m just excited to be going. I’d think that Jim Lauderdale would have to squeeze onstage with her at some point. Will have to check the schedule lineups to see if they conflict.
It would be great to maybe have a beer with you and/or anyone else from here who might be in attendance. Will PM my phone # and such later on.
We are there for the whole weekend, looking forward Iris, Caitlin Rose and so many others. Can’t wait!

Hey Stoger and others. I’m looking forward to the Bristol show tomorrow night. Am I correct to assume that Lu is no longer performing that first album? So this will be a more varied setlist?

Varied indeed, my fellow ASU alum. Still, hope we get “Like a Rose” and some others. You will have to go to Philly or Nashville for the self-titled sequence! See you soon.

Lu is scheduled for 10:45 p.m. to 12:15: a.m. on the Piedmont Stage.

Looks like there will be live streaming from the various stages but some may not be available due to artist copyrights.
Worth checking out later and to stoger, Rainydayman and Drunken Angel enjoy the concert.

    Here’s the link.

Hey FF this Lu tour for September has brought us all kinds of goodies from the anticipation of the re-release of S/T, an induction honor into the LMHOF, to a capper on Sunday night-a radio feed from 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville.
AND NOW THIS for tonight at 10:45 p.m. Eastern.
A strong possibility of a live stream on your computer from the Piedmont stage ( as I reported Earlier today)
    Here is the Piedmont schedule.

Piedmont Stage Flash Enabled Devices / Computers – Medium Quality Flash Enabled Devices / Computers – High Quality
Friday 05:30 PM – This Mountain
    Friday 07:00 PM – Scythian
Friday 08:45 PM – Hey Rosetta!
Friday 10:45 PM – Lucinda Williams

Right now I’m watching “This Mountain” an Indie folk rock band out of Johnson City, TN in high quality.Looks perfect audio/video wise.
There is a security fence in front of the stage so if Lucinda’s live stream really happens as scheduled then we would expect to see on the fence the following” stoger, Rainydayman,Drunken Angel, railroad and perhaps Vmorris.

Again here is the link to watch the various stages.

Lu nailed it and was smiling all night, dutifully ignoring some of the inebriated chicks continuing their personal social time during the beginning numbers of the show. Didn’t last long though.
Overall, a very good crowd. These mountain folks sure know Lu.

Personal highlights were Cross To Bear and Rocking in the Free World. Don’t think I’ve seen Lu sing with such soul during Cross To Bear. Wow, she really let go.

The only downer of the evening was not hooking up with any FF buddies! I thought for sure a front and center stance would guarantee renewed hellos, but no. Stayed around until near 1:00 a.m. When we had to rush for the last shuttle bus.

NIce job, Randy; I sacrificed “front and center” to see some of James McMurtry’s set in TN, so by the time I crossed back over to the Virginia side about 10:35 (a grueling eighth of a mile trek), it was pretty dense up there. I stood near the Mark Humphrey-less sound booth. Surprised you didn’t exit left of the Piedmont stage after the set and walk around to the bus, where security was non-existent and only five people joined me in waiting until Lu re-emerged from the bus. But I guess by that point it was after the last shuttle.

Yeah, she nailed the Allman Bros. cover, saying “That was f a” afterward. I’m afraid, lwj, that Lu’s choice to speak a little French after “Crescent City” was largely lost upon the “mountain folks” (Railroad’s phrase) of Appalachia, but it was a nice effort. One of the smoothest, most seamless shows I’ve ever seen. I believe it was Stuart’s second time ever on “People Talkin’,” and while I miss Doug’s electric mandolin, the song was nailed beautifully.

Beyond that, I can only yield to LWJ’s vicarious cyber-stream report, error-free. Soon we in-person folk will be obsolete in our reportage. Until such time, who’s making Philly?

I remember that now–wish I could join you and meet you. I have seen Lu at that venue once before. Bet you don’t miss the Austin weather. At any rate, give us a report, and we’ll cover you on the Nashville doings.

More cyber-streams coming up which technically are becoming very HQ but will never replace on the scene reporting from the FF gang.
Farm Aid later today with Lafayette on scene.
Tomorrow from the State Street Stage in Bristol: Jim Lauderdale at 2:15 p.m. followed by Iris Dement at 4:00 p.m.
3rd & Lindsley on Lightning 100 radio with Lu in Nashville and you on the scene.

You and Railroad said it all from Bristol ( Lu very happy and a seamless show )
You could tell from the broadcast that Lu +band mates work together so well- It put a smile on my face when Lucinda tapped on David Sutton’s shoulder right after Rockin’ in the Free World and both were beaming.
Maybe the Heritage TV channel will archive some of the concert.
