“The thing that struck me is, these songs have stood the test of time. I have to remind myself it was 25 years ago.”

1-12 Tony, check your liner notes!

13 Lake Charles [with mention of Austin journalist Margaret Moser, who was present when Clyde died]
    14 2 Kool 2 B 4 Gotten
    15 Blessed
    16 Out of Touch
    17 Unsuffer Me
    18 Righteously
    19 Joy
20 Honeybee [preceded by “I’m a lucky woman”; LU false starts, but rebounds with “That would have been hard to sing in that key”]
    ______________________________________
21 Can’t Let Go [with Austinite Randy Weeks himself on guitar and lead vocal for second verse]
21 Rockin in the Free World
22 Get Right with God [with members of the Kenneth Brian Band]

Well, I made a major gaffe, going up to Shilah Morrow and two of her friends before show and referring to Lu’s purse being stolen by saying “I guess the aftershow won’t be at that place again.” Shilah promptly introduced me to none other than the owner of that establishment, standing to my right. NIce guy; he waved off my faux pas.

The KBB Band lost its drummer, who quit after Memphis and went home. They had no drummer in Dallas. The Austin sub tonight had played with Bowie and Iggy, though I didn’t get to ask him if he knew former Lu guitarist ERic Schermerhorn. Tomorrow night they are flying in yet another sub drummer from West Virginia.

Mark played the Kenny Vaughan song “Lillie Mae’ over the house soundtrack.

Saw Matt Blake in the crowd, former Lu merch guy. Former tour manager ERic Frankhouser was not present.

Mark said Dallas went well, despite interstate traffic disrupting the sound a bit.

About the only new thing Lu said during 1-12 was to credit Dusty Wakeman for the new mix on the RT album.

She did call “Price to Pay” a “bona fide country song.”

Superb detailed reporting as usual stoger. I think we should rename you in this forum to Inside Job II 😆

    Questions on Stubb’s for ya.

What’s the story on former tour manager Eric ?
Can you shed a little light on his replacement ?
Did you meet up with DDinNJ ?

I’m kicking myself for not finding out until it was too late to tune into KUTX FM on Saturday afternoon. There was a pic of Lu and Stuart at the radio station on her facebook but I saw it too late.

    From KUTX web site
Lucinda Williams is talented storyteller and songwriter, and a bona-fide American music legend, to boot. She weaves folk, blues, rock, and country influences together to create her compelling music, and she amassed a cult following. She began making albums in the late 70s, but her breakthrough album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, came out in 1998, cementing her status as a musician that was here to stay. She was named “America’s Best Songwriter” by Time magazine in 2002, won three Grammy awards, and toured with Bob Dylan. Williams is known for her legendary perfectionism, and each of her 11 albums took at least a few years to make.
The musically adventurous Lucinda Williams was in our studio today, and her awesome performance will air Saturday, September 14 at 1pm, right here on KUTX! Be sure to tune in! You can also catch her at Stubb’s on Saturday, September 14th

Wonder if this broadcast will get a replay.

Was the Austin heat oppressive enough for a Six pack ?[attachment=0:2rsy4f2m]Lone Star.jpg[/attachment:2rsy4f2m]

Looking forward to your report from Tipitina’s.

Eric lives in Austin but was not able to commit to this whole tour, as I understand it. He was kind of expected at this show, but didn’t appear. I would think there is a chance he will helm future tours.

Jake is a nice guy and tries to accomodate folks. It’s a hard job.

Didn’t meet the Jersey contingent but would welcome a supplement here.

Any cold beverage was welcome: 93 at showtime, I think; the KBB started maybe even a tad before 8.

The NJ Chapter (all 2 of us ) was in the house and rockin. Looking forward to next weekend. A 45 minute drive to Keswick instead of the 3 hour flight to Austin or 7 hour flight to Amsterdam. Not that we don’t love our road trips. Would love to meet you if you are making the trip to Philly.
