June 12, 2013 at 7:06 pm #51726LafayetteParticipantThat festival, stoger, the following weekend in the Cincinnati area, according to my source [no, not Inside Job 😯 ] is purported to be at Riverbend Music Center, and from what I hear, includes Trucks/Tedeschi and Carolina Chocolate Drops. This news prompted a verbal “Yessss!” from the four walls I call home.
June 12, 2013 at 7:13 pm #51727LafayetteParticipantYeehaw! I just checked (University of Cincinnati football) schedules [we have season tickets] to see if that Sept 7 date would work for me, AND, I can’t believe this, but UC is playing Illinois on that date in Champaign, IL! This could be, no, this IS a WIN WIN for me. Unbelievable!

Lafayette, I think you have just scored a TRIPLE PLAY.
1. Bearcats game
2. Lucinda concert
3. Correct me if i’m wrong= an opportunity to see your Bro.lwj
June 14, 2013 at 5:37 am #51729LafayetteParticipantMy brother is close, lwj. I believe an hour and a half. I’ll have to see if he is available. Yes, could be a triple play!
September 8, 2013 at 3:33 pm #51730mshedgParticipantNice show by Lu and the boys last night, as they helped close The Ellnora Guitar Festival. A solo rendition of “Passionate Kisses” opened the evening. “Crescent City”, “Concrete & Barbed Wire”, “Blue”, “2Kool2B4Gotten”, “Out of Touch”, “Fruits of My Labor”, “Righteously” and “Essence” were among the other selections. The encore consisted of a touching version of J.J. Cale’s “Magnolia”, followed by Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World”. Halfway thru the show, Lu stated “I forgot we are in Illinois. We need to do more Rock n’ Roll”. She also related a funny story about performing “Righteously” at a karakoke bar. She was funny and charming and the music was great. You can’t ask for more than that.
Nice seeing Stoger again, as well as meeting Lafayette. Hopefully someone will post the setlist. On to the next show!
September 8, 2013 at 3:35 pm #51731tonygKeymasterGreat report mshedg!
September 8, 2013 at 9:35 pm #51732stogerParticipant1 Passionate Kisses [solo]
2 Can’t Let Go
3 Crescent City [could have sworn Lu mentioned having seen Buddy Guy the previous night, but she must have meant festivalgoers had a chance to do that]
4 2 Kool 2 B 4 Gotten [Flannery O’Connor gets some love beforehand, along with Imes & Adams]
5 Fruits of My Labor
6 Blue
7 Concrete & Barbed Wire
8 Hard Time KFB
9 Real Live Bleeding…
10 Out of Touch
11 Essence
12 Righteously [before which Lu weighs the relative desirability of winning Grammys vs. having songs in “karaoke books”]
13 Joy
14 Honeybee

Hope that last phrase means YOU are moving on to it, Mark. In case you need an incentive, I found out who will be introducing Lu at the Pageant: think BB by way of initials.
September 9, 2013 at 1:05 am #51734LafayetteParticipantGreat show and sound. Lu was in great spirits, and I, too, enjoyed the back story on the introduction to several of the songs [many I had heard prior], but every now and then, additional bits of information finds its’ way into the storytelling. Think karaoke. Very 😆
I obtained a set list from the stage. “Get Right” was scribbled in as a last song, however, curfew must have trumped.
It was great meeting you, Mark, and your wife. Hope to see you tomorrow evening!
I’m looking forward to seeing West Words tomorrow as well. The horsemen will unite, albeit one.
As always, it’s great to hang with the road warrior himself, row Q be damned.
September 9, 2013 at 3:17 am #51735mshedgParticipantHaha, Roger. The man, the myth, the legend reappears. I suggest you invest in some body armor if you intend to position yourself anywhere near the front of the stage.
