The Rough Trade Album 25th Anniversary shows continued at The Pageant in west central St. Louis. A beautiful, well-managed venue, with levels of tiered seating, and a large standing area in front of the stage. A bar serving Newcastle on tap, in the heart of Budweiser country.
I was joined in the standing area by stoger, westwords, and lafayette.
Lucinda played the Rough Album songs in sequence from 9:30 to 10:20. The Rough Trade set progressed quicker than at Cain’s because Lucinda played the same guitar (a Fender electric) for all 12 songs.
1. I Just Wanted to See You So Bad
2. The Night’s Too Long
3. Abandoned
4. Big Red Sun Blues
5. Like a Rose
6. Changed the Locks
7. Passionate Kisses
8. Am I Too Blue
9. Crescent City
10. Side of the Road
11. Price to Pay
12. I Asked for Water (He Gave Me Gasoline)There was no break after the Rough Trade set. The show continued with these 8 songs.
13. Lake Charles
14. Pineola
15. Right In Time
16. Out of Touch
17. Essence
18. Unsuffer Me
19. Joy
20. Honey BeeThen, Lucinda returned for an encore of:
21. Magnolia (by the late J.J. Cale)
22. Keep On Rockin’ in the Free WorldThe music ended about 11:20.

A-List attendees, I’d say! Thanks for the report, paul.
September 10, 2013 at 3:33 pm #51413stogerParticipanta few rushed additions: “Beatle Bob” introduced Lu as “the princess of Americana”–a quote Lu later referenced, surmising that Emmylou would be “queen” of it. I know westwords enjoyed Beatle Bob’s close dancing gyrations on her right flank during the opener.
Lu concluded that the songs from RT have “stood the test of time.” She mumbled more into the mike late in that RT set, though I couldn’t make out the words from even first row. At one point she seemed to be contrasting the “bad stuff” of the world with the good.
She informed us the RT album is being remastered “from the analogue tapes.” No RT album merch out front, nor the CD of it itself, but November is coming.
Great instrumental jam at end of KB Band’s set, with Lillie Mae playing, according to Kenneth, “a little John Hartford fiddle.”
More if I think of it…

Two additional comments, the KBB instrumental jam at the end of their set that Stoger referred to was “Steam Powered Aereoplane” from the classic Hartford LP of the same name. Also, I believe I noticed a shout out to Stoger and Paul as Lu recognized their attendance.

Stuart is wowing with his guitar licks, receiving several approving smiles from Lu throughout the night.
The show was absolutely incredible.”Side of the Road” was a highlight for me.
I love attending shows with FF members. It’s a brotherhood of sorts. Good times.

September 11, 2013 at 6:12 pm #51418tonygKeymasterAs do we all. 😀

well, in his car driving back 200 or so miles to his “home” prior to the next morning’s work. But I do feel I made up for that with my Champaign and Memphis aftershow efforts.

We told her you were homeward bound on a work night, but not to fear, you would be in Memphis. 😀

No mention of Beatle Bob but high praise for Butch with Lu condsidering him the “meat and potatoes” of the band.http://www.speakersincode.com/2013/09/concert-review-lucinda-williams-at.html
