Not sure if our faithfull road warrior stoger attended, but in the meantime a very high quality video of “Fruits of my Labor” to enjoy from last night.
In Lu’s intro she thanks everyone for early B’day wishes and remarks that Dougie’s is also coming up just 3 days apart.

Great video and find, lwj. Now posted on my fb page. 8)

Also, while we wait for stoger’s report (I’m almost certain I remember him posting he would be in Dallas, over to Austin, and back to Dallas again), I found this blog on twitter, as I search for the missing purse and jacket, about the show last night and Lucinda’s influence and help for this fan and her family, through words and music.

    Cartwheels On A Gravel Road

    SATURDAY, JANUARY 19, 2013

    Cartwheels on a Gravel Road
Dearest Lucinda (well, maybe I should call you Ms. Williams, but I bet you won’t mind)…

Thank you SO MUCH for the amazing show you gifted us with in Dallas last night at the Kessler. I’ve been blessed to see you in person a handful of times over the years and your songs have helped me through some rough patches in my life, but last night, you were, honest to God, my healer!

I’m talking physically and emotionally, too.

I hope you have avoided all of the darn flus and colds going around this winter, but for some reason, I have been gifted with more than a few. This last one evolved into a nasty sinus infection and despite being on antibiotics for three days, I still feel miserable. Also, and I think it’s a combination of Nasonex and Sudafed, but I feel like a meth addict — nervous, unstable and ugly.

If I wasn’t addled enough by all that, we have a teenaged daughter to whom I sing regularly, “You took my joy and I want it back,” but not to her face of course. She’s an amazing person but she tests us a lot and she hates us a lot, which I guess means we are doing our job, but also shines a light on all of my parenting failures and, well, anyway….

There is no denying the power of music. As soon as you hit the stage, I felt 100 times better. Your presence was comforting to me and reminded me who I am and your songwriting is just poetry and it seriously healed me. And, you made me laugh, too, so thanks for that. I love your new songs, especially the one about how we can have all of these crappy things happen to us, but we can still find hope, looking at the world around us — “it’s a different story.”

I am always proud to tell people that our eldest’s (the teen I’m whining about) first real concert was seeing you at the State Fair of Texas. We listened to you all of the time, mostly in the car, as it was an era of road trips for our family. Her favorite song was, “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road,” which she sang as “Cartwheels on a Gravel Road,” at the top of her little lungs. I bet she is not the only kid who thought that is what you were saying. My husband and my friend, Susan, and I were excited to see what she would do seeing you in person. You were playing the main stage and even though she was not enchanted with the crowd, she eventually got down out of my arms and danced, her little knees bending, hands clapping, red curls bobbing around as you kicked it on stage.

So, sorry to ramble, I know you’re busy and thank you again, so much. For making me feel a lot better and giving me the gumption to keep going. I hope the rest of your tour is fantastic with no more crazy women stealing your purse, total freedom from any and all flus and colds and lots of time and inspiration for new songs.

    God bless you, sweet girl,
    Ashley

Lu didn’t bring the purse/coat thing up; the crowd did, early in set. She thinks they have a suspect, a disgruntled after-shower who felt snubbed by Lu. Apparently, Lu didn’t remember the probable thief’s mother, supposedly a big pal of Lu’s back in the day. I’m sure the cybercops from the “Lu in General” thread will incorporate this info into their sleuthings.

Thanks for the set list and report.

I have a special fondness for Port Arthur knowing we saw it’s birth in Cleveland  . I posted to Lu’s facebook earlier today it was Janis’s birthday and suggesting it be penciled in for tonight. Silly me. TO and Lu are always on top of the game.

Awesome there is a suspect. Sad it was taken under said circumstances (because Lu didn’t remember someone?? Oy vey). I hope she gets her personal items back.

I’m looking forward to Thursday ~ Louisville bound! Wish I could have made Birmingham…

And, on a side note, I’ve been plugging in the set lists for this tour on setlist.fm, thanks in part to the FF and their input. I’m a numbers and statistics kind of gal. Love seeing the expanse of Lu’s catalog trotted out for this tour. Hopefully, they can be viewed with this link.
