Highly recommend Angela for all my female artist lovin’ friends in the FF. She’s a spitfire. ‘Old time’ music from a very young spirit.

She’s touring and getting ready to release her first record.

Angela sure is a spitfire indeed, Lafayette.
How did you come across them ?
Bonus for me they are coming to Toronto in June for a major festival.
I really enjoyed the video you posted.-really happy foot stompin’ music reminiscent of your post quite awhile ago when you discovered Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band.

Thanks and maybe, just maybe JM and Amos will get back on the road this year.

lwj, Stoll played a set with her right before Christmas. He came home for the first time in a year and a half. Fortunately, I had the night open so my friend and I hit the road for Lexington. It was great seeing him – the last time was Atlanta 2 1/2 years ago when tnt and I surprised him.

The sad thing about the show for Angela is Stoll had the place packed with family and friends and by the time she took to the stage around 11:00, there was no one left. 😮 My friend and I stayed as long as we could but we had to get back on the road. I really loved what I heard. She hails from Columbus, OH, a 2 hour drive from me. It looked to me as if she was staying somewhat regional, however, with the release what looks to be a full length record, she is expanding her road trips. This Saturday she plays in Knoxville, the Blue Plate special, streamed live. I believe it’s noon and I think Knoxville is central time. http://www.wdvx.com/programs/blueplate.html

Here is one of several youtube Blue Plate Special videos from a previous performance.

…and I just checked her schedule, again, and she is playing a little bar in my neck of the woods on Feb 22. *pencils in*

I’m trying to get a copy of Angela’s new EP ” Nowhere is Now” here in Canada but my local record shop says not available.
I can download the 5 songs from iTunes but I prefer the real thing.
    It’s on Amazon.com but not on Amazon.ca

Anyway Lafayette I’m glad they are coming to Toronto for NXNE in June.
Thought you would enjoy this article on Angela and also a video.
Seems Angela is also a member of another all girl’s band from Columbus, OH called “The Salty Caramels”
In the video Angela sings, plays a frying pan and a hand saw.

Sure do like their music. Notice how the ……connect to Lucinda in the article.
Hope you get to see them at Southgate House.

I’d be glad to order it for you & mail it to you, LWJ (still have your address 😉 ) – I even would get free shipping, as I am an Amazon Prime member. BUT, I can’t find a physical CD for sale in the U.S. Amazon store – only MP3 downloads. Do you have a link?

    Tom

EDIT / P.S. Sounds like the only place one can pick up a physical EP CD is at their shows, LWJ… 🙁

Many thanks tntracy ( for the kind mailing offer ) and new Forum member note for the research.
At first glance I didn’t realize that it’s just available online as MP3’s when I first searched Amazon.
So I bought the EP in my iTunes account, copied the album artwork and printed on photo paper for my collection.
I do prefer the real thing especially if there are liner notes.
I hope to see the group in Toronto at NXNE in June and look forward to their full length album later this year.

Gotta love their music and videos. Ohio seems to produce a lot of good music as Lafayette would attest to.

Angela is absolutely amazing and I know each and every one of my Lu friends will love her once they hear her live. The more I read about her, the more I love. She is a sweetheart, too. I approached her after the last show, told her I loved her stuff, I volunteered at WNKU (although it has been a year or so since I’ve been in touch) and told her I would love to pass along one of her EP’s to JP (I had searched WNKU’s site, aghast they haven’t spun any Angela Perley.) She told me she had someone working the radio stations and she thought they had sent something in December to WNKU. I’m going to try my best to get this girl some spins. In our talk, I mentioned I saw her with Stoll in Lexington in December. I was shocked the following day when I had a facebook friend request from her. I guess she tracked me down somehow through Stoll. A recent photo of Angela with a saw traipsing through a hotel was featured on her facebook page and I immediately thought of Amos Lee. I specifically remember him posting on his page for an experienced saw player (featured on one song on “As The Crow Flies.”)

lwj, I would be happy to pick up an EP for you and have her sign it. I hope to see her at two upcoming shows. On April 27 she plays in Pleasant Plain, OH at a new coffee house (converted church) and then the Southgate Show where she opens for a band I saw her with last month.

She is a must see. I still can’t believe WNKU hasn’t picked her up. She had to have fallen through the cracks.

Lafayette, Angela’s band reminds me of Erika Wennerstrom playing bars for tips, joining an all girl’s band called Shesus in Dayton, OH and her and Dave Colvin then forming the HB’s in 2003.
They opened for headliners for years but now look at their success.
I feel the Howlin’ Moons can achieve similar fame some day.

Angela, Erika and Lucinda all are gifted with a strong voice and unique lyrics.
Yup, better get after JP at WNKU to spin their music.

If you do attend either of their upcoming shows I would love to take you up on your offer for an autographed EP.
This reminds me of your generosity in Windsor giving me a bunch of JM posters and an autographed Mike Younger CD.

Speaking of Mr. Younger, we’re trying to coordinate a girls weekend in Nashville and contacted him with hopes he would be playing a gig. He just replied this evening with a nada but told us to reach out to him when we visit.

I’ll be more than happy to pick you up an AP EP. IF I don’t make the Pleasant Plain show, I will most certainly make it to Southgate House.

lwj..I never made it to this past Saturday’s Pleasant Plain show, however, I am determined to make it to the Southgate House in a few weeks (and Holly Williams a week or so after Angela.)

    I’ll keep you posted.

The good news is I gave JP a call today at the station and he told me he would give Angela a listen. He said I have great taste in music. 😮 😆 [it’s that Mellencamp/Lu connection we share  ]
