I just got home from a very excellent night out at McCabes to see Jill Sobule. I wasn’t going to go due to the rain but then I said, Who am I, an old lady? Apologies to old ladies. Jill was accompanied by a cast of thousands, a few at a time. On standup bass was David Carpenter, who just got off a Supertramp tour. Pianist Steve Weissberg accompanied on half the songs. Jill was also joined for a few songs by a gentleman who was sitting in front of me, Wayne Kramer, formerly of MC-5. Jill left the stage for a song and the 2 guys sitting next to me took the stage. Some guy named A.M. played ukulele while Mike from The Eeels played piano. Jill asked if there were any plate spinners in the crowd. There were not.

In addition to being a great singer and songwriter and guitar player, Jill is hysterically funny. She cannot not be funny. I managed to chit chat with several luminaries who braved the storm on a Saturday night. Blake MIlls, guitarist. Funny lady Jane Lynch, who is on Glee, a show I do not watch, but has been in movies and such. Kim Dickens, who plays the chef on Treme, was there. I had also seen her there before at a John Doe show. I told Kim I was pissed that the mean restaurant owner was nasty to her last week on the season finale of Treme. She agreed. Also actor Evan Handler.

I had a bite to eat and 2 quick wines down the street before show. The last time I was there, Mr. Stoger accompanied. He would have enjoyed this night out. I will return to both locations tomorrow to see the super fabulous Jim Lauderdale.

Wow. I’m catching up on Lu postings. How did I miss this thread? shortly we may be referring to your concert/show outings as Tony’s Excellent Adventures.
