I’m planning on traveling to Chicago for the first of two shows at City Winery in Chicago. I’m interested (possibly) in VIP tickets (if they are offered). I would appreciate any heads up on presales for the January 27 show on Sunday (the day after Lu’s birthday 8) ). This is a fairly new venue and my brother is quite stoked about the show and the place. I’m always stoked, that’s a given.
November 29, 2012 at 4:18 am #50834LafayetteParticipantI just checked City Winery’s website and both shows have just been added. I called and was told pre-sale for members at present with tickets to general public on sale tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. (I assume CST).

Accordingly, the wait-staff will be walking, talking, and serving throughout the music performance, navigating the tight aisles among the tables and chairs, with plates and trays.
I attended Kasey Chambers at the City Winery in New York City, and I found this continuous food/drink operation quite distracting, while I attempted to focus on the music.
November 29, 2012 at 2:53 pm #50836LafayetteParticipantThank you for the heads up, Paul. It’s too bad we can’t make it to The Space in Evanston, IL (Chicago suburb) on the following Wednesday. They have tables set up in the front of the room with less distraction (no food) but that day doesn’t work as well as the City Winery.
*edit to add* The City Winery has this management statement on the website that I had not noticed prior –
“CW Chicago is our 2.0. We learned a lot in NY and have improved the physical layout, the operational logistics, taken the best of our menu, programming, and put together an all-star management team. Very excited to open in August. — Michael Dorf, Founder and CEO”
Hopefully, the tight navigation of the room and the distraction of serving will be less intrusive and we can enjoy Lu and a wonderful meal.
November 29, 2012 at 5:14 pm #50837paul_from_losangelesParticipantNote that the Evanston SPACE show sold-out almost immediately after the 10 AM CST on-sale this morning.
November 29, 2012 at 5:43 pm #50838LafayetteParticipantWe would have much preferred the SPACE venue, however, the mid week night did not work with our schedules. I saw Chuck Prophet at this venue over the summer. Nice SPACE, great wine. 😀

When I click on purchase tickets, and I see the map of the venue, there are boxes that are empty toward the top of the page that says “Your selections” but there is nothing to click on. Might just have to call.
December 3, 2012 at 10:37 pm #50841tonygKeymasterYou have to click on a seat available. I think they are marked by a red dot.
December 3, 2012 at 11:41 pm #50839LafayetteParticipantWow. Only 4 seats left for the Sunday evening show (via the red dots tonyg mentioned). The show on Monday has a few more available, a few singles close to the stage, and plenty with a side view.
Here is the link of the seating chart for Monday’s show.
