AAARRRGGGH, I just finished booking a trip to NYC for the week before… 🙁 ….hmmmm….
Lucinda Williams To Headline WFUV’s Holiday Cheer Concert On December 5
The Alternate Side’s mothership, WFUV, is thrilled to announce that Lucinda Williams will headline the station’s annual fundraising concert, Holiday Cheer for WFUV, on Wednesday, December 5th at the Beacon Theatre. Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, November 9, at 11 a.m. EST through Ticketmaster.
Lucinda Williams has long been an FUV fave and standard-bearer for great songwriting of any form. We’ve followed every step of her career on the radio, from her 1979 blues-based debut through her most recent release, Blessed. She’s got an unrivalled gift for storytelling with guts, and we know firsthand that she’s a dynamic and moving performer. She’ll be backed by her full band, known as Buick 6.
Come out to support WFUV for a great night of music. More performers are being added, so stay tuned to 90.7 WFUV and the station’s Facebook and Twitter for more details.

November 9, 2012 at 8:59 pm #50635West WordsParticipantOkay, I am upper upper balcony, just couldn’t swing the good $eats, but I am in the building. Yay!! Here’s to a Lu-minous celebration and hopefully a little healing for a city that so needs it. 🙂
November 9, 2012 at 9:46 pm #50636GrumpyMamaParticipantOh, the peer pressure is on. I have a soft spot for NYC, especially now in the wake of the storm. thanks so much to stoger and west words. airfare is low for that date, just need a cheap cot to crash on…

November 12, 2012 at 9:01 pm #50642stogerParticipantBelieve I met the missus out west this past year, mike: she seems willing and able to give you leave for this. Neither tickets nor lodging will be cheap, but hey, a man lives once, they say. If we can convince grumpymama, there’s two west coasters headed to the Big Apple. Let’s do it, peoples.

Yes indeed, Roger.
Willing and able she was!!!looking now for ticket (wishing I was a chase cardholder ??) but am thrilled just getting in the building!!
So much research.. so little time..
November 15, 2012 at 5:48 pm #50643LafayetteParticipantIt’s on like Donkey Kong…or some such nonsense.
I’ve booked room and flight along with purchasing a ticket. NYC, here I come!
This trip would not have been feasible had it not been for FF miles and hotel room points. Good grief, I was in sticker shock but surprisingly was able to book using minimum points and miles.
Room (near venue) in Times Square <—AWESOME – Price $449 but booked using 25,000 points (a steal using points).
Flight – Price $904 <— WTF [happy I was sitting] – Booked for 25,000 FF miles <—This has to be the BEST points for the money flight I have ever booked.
Then, I found a ticket, specially priced for Chase card holders thru a presale, and decided to splurge. If I’m looking at chart correctly, my seat is in the 7th row off to right hand side, and cost a little less than half of what tickets through regular sale are being sold. I bought ticket insurance for an additional $7 thinking surely with all the luck I had booking this trip, something will go terribly wrong.
Stoger and West Words, (and anyone else), your horseman friend will be in the Big Apple. We must meet up preshow!
November 15, 2012 at 8:04 pm #50644Mike_DoranParticipantPre-Show/Donkey Kong indeed!
I am equally thrilled to have booked ticket, room & airfare!!
