Grit, soul, and frolic–that’s our Lu and her number one sideman. I don’t see much “complaint” in the new song “When I look at the World,” (relatively anyway) but OK.

    Any Forum members in Beantown?

I don’t think Tim went, Stoger. I was surprised to read that Lu did one hour and Prine did two. I was thinking it would be two 90 minute sets. Of course that was based on no information at all.

I look forward to a future show attended by mass quantities of Lu-natics. The west coast works for me. 😆

First of all, kudos to all the setlist keepers! I love reading the detailed setlists that are always posted after a show. I started writing down the setlist, and after 4 songs I forgot and then lost track! 😳 Here’s what I got. The first 4 are correct, as well as the last 2, but those in the middle I am just guessing at the order. Hope someone else got it.

    Can’t Let Go
    Pineola
    People Talkin
    World Without Tears
When I Look At The World
    Blessed
    Drunken Angel
    Jailhouse Tears
    Changed The Locks
    Honey Bee
    Hard Time Killin Floor Blues
    Joy

Had I known that Lucinda was just the “opener” vs co-headlining, I probably would have skipped this show and gone to the State Theater show in Portland. Although I have to say that I loved hearing Lu and Doug as a duo! 😀

And as posted in the Albany thread, Lu and Doug joined John for his encore.

Stoger – Re: the complaint quote– If only the critics could have the grasp and understanding of the language as yourself and the artists they’re writing about then it would make sense. It’s more important to mention something like that than to say that Lu got a very rousing standing ovation -as did John.
Also -it should noted that the picture they used was not from this show–or is that just the hat wearing ghost of Butch hovering in the background.

Tonyg- Lu played 60 and John played 90 including the one song encore with Lu. It may have been slightly longer in Boston.

Another great night -Lu has such immense love and respect for John going back to when Lu lived in Nashville and they got to know each other. It was quite a conversation they had after the show -lot’s of old stories etc.
Our fornt of house wizard James had BoA plaza sounding like a 200 seat theatre. I went out beyond the covered area and I could hear every nuance in Lu’s voice and Doug’s guitar. He certainly had the full array of challenging types of venues on this run and made every single one sing. In addition to being brilliant he puts in an amazing amount of effort to make it all happen.
    Here’s the setlist:

    Can’t Let Go
    Pineola
    People Talkin’
    World Without Tears
    I Look At The World
    Blessed
    Jailhouse Tears
    Drunken Angel
    Change The Locks
    Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues
    Honey Bee
    Joy

Oops! I really messed up that set list. 🙄 I’ll leave it to the pros at future shows! 🙂

Thx for the report and setlist Tom. Have fun in Colorado!

Great effort Haunted! It is harder than it seems and much can go wrong when one is trying to jot down the setlist and enjoy the show at the same time. And enjoy beverages. Too bad you didn’t go to the Portland show. You would have enjoyed the gyrating woman.

Awesome pictures Bix56! Is Doug wearing a sportcoat? I guess the heatwave broke.

Good report, haunted. And Tom is certainly right about James as a front house wizard. I sorely regret not squeezing this pair of Prine co-bill shows in, since my first ever concert of my life was Jerry Jeff Walker and John Prine, 19 _ _ (too revealing to fill in those blanks). I spoke to him on the sidewalks of Elliston Ave. in Nashville only last year. What a legend.
