A certain lead guitarist’s taste buds told me so. Tempting…
I did a lobster roll tour last year which coincided with a Lu show in Gilford, NH and a Maine fishing trip. I strongly encourage you to sample the lobster rolls at Red’s Eats in Wiscasset, Maine (45 miles north of Portland) They are widely recognized as the best lobster rolls in the world. And after considerable testing, I agree. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights in Cape Elizabeth, Maine (9 miles south of Portland) is also worth the trip. Spectacular ocean front location and the food is pretty good too.
One final recommendation, make the 20 mile trip from Brownfield, Maine to Conway, New Hampshire and take the Kancamagus Highway to Lincoln. Take I-93 north to Franconia and drive up to Route 302 East which takes you to Bretton Woods, past Mount Washington and thru Crawford Notch before depositing you back at North Conway, New Hampshire. It is one of the most beautiful drives in the nation and you won’t regret it.
