1 Pineola
2 Can’t Let Go
3 People Talkin’
4 World Without Tears
5 Are You Alright
6 Copenhagen [aborted after a long intro story and verse one: no lyrics for it in the Book. Lu wanders around the stage a bit after the first chorus, while the boys improvise. She finally plucks one page out of the Book and waves it to Eric in the wings–obviously not the right page. He comes on. The boys stop. Lu orders Eric to “write down the lyrics and we’ll do it later.” She adds, “People think I’m neurotic anyway…”]
7 Born to Be Loved
8 Trying to Get to Heaven
9 Drunken Angel
10 I Need Protection [so apparently the prospective title change is no more than adding a subject and a verb to the existing title. No sentence fragments for our Lu. You go girl.]
11 Real Live Bleeding…
12 Out of Touch
13 Cross to Bear
14 Changed the Locks
15 Righteously
16 Joy [after which a smiling Lu greets applause with “I’m Not Worthy” and apologizes again for the “mishap”]
17 Honeybee
________________________________________
18 Ain’t got no home… [before which Eric makes a point of thumping the Book to the right place]
19 Copenhagen!!! [but not before lu says “I give up” when she still can’t find the lyrics–Eric gets some more show time and ultimately succeeds in his flipping]
20 Blessed
21 Get right with God {with Amy Cook & David Garza, out on stage with her at their first opening show!]Quite a night. Perhaps now is the time for some former Specialists of the Book like Nick or Flappy to get a callback. The crew is down to one guitar tech, whom I’m sure is able technically, but he’s just not a Person of the Book, doesn’t even aspire to be. I guess some cross-training could be an option for the guy, from techie to lit. man. Meanwhile, Eric is not shy in his ever expanding role as tour manager.
Lu was in an amazing good mood for songs 1-5, praised the sound system. Even after the debacle, she stayed on point, give her that.
Once I got adjusted to the utter absence of craggy peaks and chairlift inclines and funiculars and such, the Lensic Theatre of Santa Fe proved a fine venue.
Amy did some fine songs in opener, with minimal audience interaction. I was the first kid on my block to buy her CD (produced by Alejandro Escavedo) from merch man Matt. She signed and we chatted briefly. Apparently her sideman David (accent on second syllable) Garza had a major label deal of his own in the 90’s.
As I exited the venue, I could detect a noise around my person: turns out it was, people, the sound of my stomach grumbling. No free on-site grub, for first time in 4 shows. Egads.

Did you have time to visit the miracle staircase? http://www.lorettochapel.com/staircase.htmlJuly 19, 2012 at 8:28 pm #50162tonygKeymasterGreat report. Sorry you missed a meal. 😉
July 20, 2012 at 5:32 am #50163Mike_DoranParticipantAh.. “I Need” Protection.
Sure, NOW it makes sense…Thanks Roger!
PS
Keep your eye out for more concert dates coming soon (or maybe they’re already known??)A (double)posting on Lu’s Twitter and Facebook account (2 hrs ago) stated “Sorry to bombard you all with Event dates but needed to get them all up ASAP! Thanks for your patience 🙂
– Lucinda mgmt. “But on Twitter there were no other postings…on Facebook, which I don’t use, but went there to see
if any new shows were added, it appeared to just be the ones already posted here..I think maybe the post with new shows may have not gotten posted?? I’m confused…

It is quite possible – with the exception of a couple shows in SF in early Oct. around Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (not confirmed yet and probably 60/40 chance of happening) that this leg will be it for the US this year.
