It’s long been said that the blues — in all its forms — is one of the most potent means to transform pain into beauty. Lucinda Williams has known that since she began devouring music as a youngster growing up in Louisiana, and she’s been finding new ways to perform that alchemical reaction ever since.
With her new album West, a disc that may well be Williams’ most personal work to date, the three-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter channels both her emotion and restive creative energy into a startling set of songs that touch on both darkness and redemption.
We are honored to welcome Lucinda and her band to the Chautauqua stage and look forward to a memorable summer evening of music.Ride the Free HOP 2 Chautauqua shuttle to this show!

“mid-July to early August” does not constitute a “leg”… A foot, yes, a shin…Come out West!! (and see..)

April 19, 2012 at 3:05 am #49698paul_from_losangelesParticipantHere are some promotional words for the May 19 show, from the weekly E-Mail of the 9:30 Club, which is associated with the Merriweather Post Pavilion:
“Back before Columbia became a bustling city, Route 29 was a lowly road that cut through the small town. Harkening back to those simpler times is the Route 29 Revue, featuring some great Americana and country-tinged rock sounds courtesy of Lucinda Williams and Drive-By Truckers. Don’t expect a tranquil evening either; both artists have their moments of reflection, but aren’t afraid to turn up the volume. Along with 9:30 Records’ own Justin Jones, hot on the heels of his new release, Fading Light, you’ve got yourself some sensational songs for this Saturday soiree.”
