The show got off to a slow start as Lucinda was distracted by on-stage sound problems, but from the audience it sounded fine.
I loved hearing Side of the Road as I wasn’t expecting to hear it again. Just Lucinda and Doug Pettibone on stage made the words and sound crisp, clear and distinct. Also a beautiful version of Essence; great to hear Pineola, though not too much from Blessed. An encore set, where Lucinda seemed to relax talking to the audience and swaying more freely, included a solo Passionate Kisses, and a cover of Buffalo Springfield’s Stop Children What’s that sound?. At 11.30 it seemed to be really in the groove, a shame it had to end, but a really enjoyable concert – thanks.April 4, 2012 at 12:25 am #49579tonygKeymasterGreat report Tonyb. Lucinda had on stage sound problems? Hold the front page. ๐
Nice name too.

Awesome show in Sydney last night. What a band! Wow it sounded amazing, really crisp and clear. The start sounded fine to me but LW was struggling for first few songs with her ear monitors. The songs stand up so well.
Anyone got a set list for Sydney last night? I’m trying to remember but am struggling to include all in order …
Who were the second support band? I liked them but didn’t catch their name?
Cheers

It was a dream come true for Eilen to open up for Lu. Hoping it can happen again some time!April 4, 2012 at 4:15 am #49572tonygKeymasterThx for the setlist Tom. More songs from Blessed on the way?
April 4, 2012 at 4:18 am #49573TOverbyParticipantProbably -for whatever reason she didn’t want to do Buttercup last night and I didn’t feel like arguing with her about it ๐ฎ

Ahem, Tom, when you find and marry Ms Right, her first name changes from the one her parents gave her to ALWAYS. Not sometimes right, not occasionally right, not nearly always right but always right. Any man who realises this will have a long and happy marriage, and men who are happily married live longer. ๐

Fruits Of My Labori said that already, but those 2 songs back-to-back: just perfect. twin songs.

April 8, 2012 at 2:45 pm #49584LWjettaParticipantTo quote Stoger’s word, I “ferreted” out this rather colorful review at the State Theatre.
Love the ending sentence.Delivering a generous two-hour set, the power of her music is simply fundamental. It delivers punch with a finely detailed sense of clarity, yet without fussiness. Emotional heft is all โ and she rides her wild pony with wicked, slouching รฉlan.
