This audience came with its requests ready to hand, though there were some late arrivals presumably due to the 49ers’ final throes. It truly was a “funny” and unprecedented thing to see Lu enter stage left and walk across the stage into the wings some 5 minutes before she started. Tour manager Eric Frankenhouser escorted her, then came back to personally supervise the lighting set-up from the front of the stage. Closest thing to that was the “runway” walk-on effect at that night club kind of place in midtown Phoenix.
Blake called “I Just Wanted to See YOu…” a song “cruelly underperformed” and said he was doing it in his opening set “in protest” of this. He nailed it as usual.
