Here is a preview article / interview for tonight’s Ft. Lauderdale show from the Broward Palm Beach New Times…

Seems there were not one but two Butch’s on stage to drum.

I’m not, repeat not a member of FB stoger but I can view Lucinda’s page and get a lot of info.
OK here’s the scoop from Fort Lauderdale.Thank you to Lucinda & her band … WE were blessed tonight at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.
· Lucinda is the best. Just saw her at Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale. She was incredible, her vocal power is not possible to dublicate on a CD. Its hard to put in words how dominating her performance was. Just outstanding. Thank you Lucinda for an unforgettable night.
Derek Trucks of the Allman Bros was a guest drummer for 2 songs. I did miss Doug Pettibone who I think is a world class guitarist, but her current band was excellent. The drummer reminded me of John Bonham of Zep, powerful and loud but perfectly in tune with Lucinda and the band.
amazing show in ft. lauderdale thursday night!…great surprise guest, butch trucks from the allman brothers to drum on the last couple of songs…and you singing “cross to bear” was a thing of beauty to behold!…we waited outside the venue for a long time, people that worked at the playhouse, your bandmates, and the roadies thought you would come out sooner…we met you before, we just wanted to see you and thank you for a great show…maybe next time!
· Dear Ms. Williams,
Thanks to you and Buick 6. You made me happy; it was an amazing show in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks for making it affordable, and also, you looked great. My husband and I were in the fourth row and agreed on this as fact.lwj
p.s.1. Derek Trucks was not there, it was his Uncle Butch Trucks.
p.s.2. Here’s a pic.[attachment=0:yl1x0k31]Lu at Parker Playhouse.jpg[/attachment:yl1x0k31]October 21, 2011 at 4:17 pm #48540stogerParticipantThank you lwj. Some of my best friends are on Facebook, so no need to apologize. I guess I could observe the main page too, should I decide to carve out time for it.
Wow, first Blake as a farm animal sideman, and now Butch as a British percussionist. I look forward to the next comparison with David’s bass skills.

Review starts like this.Lucinda Williams hasn’t toured South Florida for as long as I’ve followed her music, which means she hasn’t been down here in at least eight years. For Thursday night’s appearance at a near-capacity Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, the alt-country siren was received with what felt like decades of pent-up enthusiasm.

Most welcome stoger.
I haven’t been able to ferret out anything from Live Oak, FL.Magnolia Fest.
Maybe there will be something tomorrow to find, so in the meantime you guys and gals have fun tonight at the Choo Choo, I’ll be watching the live web cast for the Bridge School event.lwj
October 24, 2011 at 3:31 pm #48544LovTheBluzParticipantI was luck enough to be in the 2nd row @ Ft. Lauderdale show! As said earlier…THANX for keeping the prices reasonable! She was wonderful! I was dissapointed Pettibone was not there however those kids were extremley talented! It was a nice suprise to add to a wonderful show. I was so thrilled when I found out she woulds appear at the Parker as it is such a great venue! She wailed out It Just Ain’t My Cross To Bear! The timbre of her voice improves with age. She is a great talent I have had the privelage of seeing 4 times. Hopefully when she said she will come more ofter…she meant it!
