    Bonjour,
My daughter, french student in SF for a while, will be in Santa Rosa on the 24th.
She asked me to make a request for this show : she would like to hear UNSUFFER ME.
I guess this song has been played this year.
So Tom it’s up to you to ravish a young lady named Eurydice.

Hmh: as “ravish”-ing as this young Gallic lady with the ancient Greek name no doubt is, I doubt that this is meant as a literal request for Tom, given its active verb form here. The implications of him doing that might be problematic for the tour bus dynamics overall. But figuratively, sure, “Unsuffer Me” might do the trick for many Santa Rosa fans.

I was wondering what she meant.

Just received a phone call from my daughter : the show was fantastic, the new guitarist is a God, Lucinda was in voice and they played Unsuffer me.
Other songs : Can’t let go, well well well, people talkin’, 5 from Blessed, i lost it and more

YES… wonderful show! Great take on Unsuffer Me. Nice solo on Lake Charles. All the new songs meshed nicely with the old. And the band is talented. The tour is off on the right foot. This venue isn’t conducive to getting off your butt and moving your feet. But crowd sure knew how to clap their hands and was most respectful. Besides, my wife had me on a short leash and muzzle. What more can I say?
“Lucinda may you stay forever young.”

    * I think: something off Car Wheels at this point, anyway

This was a fine tour debut, with a somewhat sedate crowd as Pit Bull points out. I’m not quite ready to elevate Blake Mills to deity status, but among the people the kid impressed was one Chuck Prophet, proudly sporting his aftershow pass on the inside of his coat lapel up front. It was great to chat with Chuck and his wife Stephanie Finch for a bit.

Also, a shout-out to Tom Bockman, who occasionally posts on this Forum under “blue” I think. Tom was last seen by me in Saratoga, August 2010, and we enjoyed many shows together a few years back. He claims he’s not going tonight. Come on now, you want to see her so bad again, right? Drive your car in the middle of the afternoon. Do it.

The Wells Fargo Center is tucked away north of Santa Rosa proper. I was laden with a thick program of the year’s events there upon entering, and while Lafayette and others may appreciate the full page Amos Lee gets in front of his August appearance, Lu was not featured in the program. Oh well, I tossed it floorward in short order and felt less burdened for it.

One new guitar tech, who has a ways to go to match Nick sartorially. Ethan is back on monitors, Matt at the merch table, etc. Familiar faces, nice to see, though I don’t quite know everybody’s name. Perhaps Lu will make crew intros soon, down to the bus drivers, as in those fabled shows Chuck Prophet Himself opened in ’02.

So yes, Mama was happy. Good omens for the ahead.
