From Orange County’s OCWeekly, here is their list of five Lu songs that will “make you a fan”.
I noted with interest (and a chuckle) that one of the songs listed is “Jailhouse Tears” – the very same song another reviewer panned as “a career low” in another recently-posted article… 😉

Sweet Old World is, of course, rightfully on there and Side of the Road is my favorite from her self-titled album, but I don’t know if it’s one of the must hears.
For fun, I picked my ”Five Songs That I Think Will Make You a Fan” :
”Sweet Old World”
”Ugly Truth” (could.. not.. resist)
”Car Wheels” (it’s not my fav. from the album, but I do think it’s the key song of it, so there you go)
”Ventura” and
Something from Essence (really could NOT choose.. Essence? Reason to Cry?, Blue.. Are You Down? or Out of Touch).Picking five must hears from her great great fantastic back catalogue is.. hard.

5: VenturaJune 10, 2011 at 8:20 pm #47397Disco StuParticipantYeah, Jailhouse Tears is an interesting choice for this list – I think it’s a pretty good song, but I’d neither put it in my personal top 5 nor consider it one of the 5 songs I’d play for a new fan. For me it would also depend on the audience…I’d choose different songs to introduce Lucinda’s music to a country fan than I would an indie rock fan.
My overall top 5 would be:
1. Car Wheels
2. Pineola
3. Ventura
4. Side of the Road
5. Still I Long For Your KissThey’re really in no particular order after Car Wheels, though.
