    Robert Plant, Elizabeth Cook Lead With Three Nominations Each

    Robert Plant
    Singer-songwriters Robert Plant and Elizabeth Cook lead the list of nominees for the 2011 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards.

    Rosanne Cash announced the list of nominations during a Monday afternoon (May 23) gathering in New York City. She sang at the event that also featured performances by the Civil Wars, Levon Helm and His Dirt Farmer Quartet, Jim Lauderdale and keyboardist Benmont Tench. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and songwriter-producer T Bone Burnett attended.

    Plant and Cook are each nominated for artist of the year. Plant and the Band of Joy are nominated for duo/group of the year, and the musicians’ Band of Joy is up for album of the year. Cook’s Welder and “El Camino” are nominated for album and song of the year, respectively.

    The 10th annual Americana Music Association Honors & Awards ceremony takes place Oct. 13 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and coincides with the Americana Festival and Conference scheduled for Oct. 12-15.
