I just checked into my hotel which is about 12 miles south of downtown / the venue. Already heard from stoger via text message – seems I’ll be having Hooter’s wings for dinner tonight before the show – suits me just fine… 😉

I believe the exact quote was “Hooters or bust”–pun fully intended.
OK, it’s very late (2:01 AM) & I just got back to my hotel room. But, I wanted to fulfill my commitment to West Words & stoger to get the set lists (one for each set) from tonight (last night?) posted. As I snagged copies of the setlists after the show, I was the logical volunteer.
For now, suffice it to say that it was a great evening, a wonderful show & Mr. Blake Mills impressed me greatly this, the first show I have seen with him performing. Also a pleasure (as always) to see once again dear friends West Words & stoger, as it was meeting Roger’s friend Bryce and new forum member elbee & his wife. More details on the show tomorrow (or later, as I will be driving to Knoxville tomorrow). But, for now, here are the set lists with a few brief comments:

Incredible set list! Love seeing more of the “West” “rarities.” LOVE “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues.” “Side Of The Road” and “World Without Tears” rounds out the wow factor.

Nice report, Tom: that intro to “Fancy Funeral” alone was worth the price of admission. Aunt Cecil from Slidell, my my my–quite an account of mortuary doings. Still, let’s hope west words puts pencil to paper again tonight–I’ve forgotten a fair amount of what came out of Lu’s mouth in Charlotte already. . . .
Thanks for posting the set list and everything said, sans the Hooters dinner 😀 is right on with my wonderful experience. Betty and I had a blast from the balcony. Great meeting you all after the show and backstage with Lucinda. Thanks for everything!
NoelleThe Hooters was a one-off (or two-off, as it were), I suspect.
I can’t believe both tntracy and I failed to mention a couple of other aspects of the Charlotte show, including the stained-glass, ex-church aura (cp. Tabernacle of Atlanta and The Shedd of Eugene). Lu duly took note, and hesitated (or mock-hesitated) before playing “Essence,” in light of the f-bomb in its final verse. She played it of course, and neither fire nor brimstone ensued. Though in Knoxville she noted the predicted end of the world on May 21 (“We’re going to be in Chicago that day”), just before picking up on the Glen Beck motif.
Also, something was bothering Butch’s drum kit in Charlotte, which turned out to be a wasp, according to Lu. I thought she meant White Anglo Saxon Protestant briefly, but she definitely used the singular and there were four of those other kind (I think) on stage. Appropriate in some way I think, though it would have been cooler if the creature had appeared later in set, say right in front of “Honeybee.”
Noelle, tntracy, or west words, what else needs to be said about that fine Charlotte show?
