If it is indeed a trend, I think it’s a good idea. Not only does it change things up a bit for those who travel to see multiple shows, but it also injects some local flavor & talent to the show itself. Not to mention a good opportunity for out-of-towners to discover new (to them) music…

TENNESSEE IS A PRETTY BROAD STATE–GEOGRAPHICALLY SPEAKING, AT LEAST–PERHAPS NOT QUITE UP TO ONTARIO DEPTH AND BREADTH, BUT. . . ME, I’D JUST AS SOON IDAHOAN EILEN JEWELL RAN THE TABLE BY WAY OF OPENER, BUT WE’LL SEE HOW THIS “LOCAL” TREND PANS OUT.Wonder If this is will be a trend (i.e. local bands to open)

April 20, 2011 at 1:57 am #46800TOverbyParticipantAs you’ve already discovered we are doing some local openers and some with no openers. I am excited to announce that Erika Wennerstrom (Ms. Heartless Bastards) will be opening the Austin show with a special acoustic solo set. It also looks like we will have CC Adcock in Lafayette (his home town) and also in New Orleans. He and Lu go way back and he’s opened some shows before a few years ago -great guitar player -should be a lot of fun.

Lefty, how’s airfare from Upstate New York to Austin? π

Lefty, here is a sample of the ultimate dream autograph from Erika for you if you are able to make it to Stubb’s BBQ. π

Will be my first time seeing them as well, and yes, I LOVE the idea of fusing local acts as an opener. It’s an old school way of booking and one that’s a win win as far as I’m concerned. The potential to bring the opener’s fans into the fray and the opening act gets bragging rights as opening for a national treasure.
April 22, 2011 at 7:56 pm #46806TOverbyParticipantCC Adcock is also opening the New Orleans HOB show.
