Hey, I hadn’t seen anyone else specifically talkin’ about this one… Didn’t know if anyone was pre-partying, or what? Me and my gal Goldie will prolly hit the Video Saloon a coupla blocks up the street before and/or after.
Have never been to the Buskirk-Chumley but am expecting a pretty cool space. Also, I see mentioned the show is a “solo” performance!? Is that *just* Lu with no band? Or Lu & Band with no opening act? Either way we will BE THERE with bells on!!
OK, just wasnted to put some feelers out. I better get back to work, tho am a little too excited about the show to concentrate much! Cheers!
February 25, 2011 at 3:33 pm #45834tntracyParticipantFour of us from the forum (stoger, West Words, Lafayette & me) will be in Bloomington today for this show, Django. Lafayette & I are about to leave right now from Cincinnati (I am from Georgia, but drove up yesterday & am staying with Lafayette). We will look for you at the Video Saloon…
The show is a solo acoustic show – very special. I saw Lu perform two such shows in her home town of Fayetteville, AR last fall, and I can tell you that you are in for a treat. There will be an opening act, a singer / songwriter names Dylan LeBlanc.
Welcome to the forum & I hope we will see you tonight!
Tom

February 25, 2011 at 6:46 pm #45836DjangoParticipantThanks for the info, Tom (Mr. Moderator!)
We are *stoked* for the show. I always love hearing her band shredding things up, but, yeah, a solo acoustic gig in a “theatre” setting sounds way more personal! I’ve only seen Lu 2X before, and the first time was back in Aught-2 at the Austin City Limits festival and I was like a quartermile away from her!
I can’t guarantee we’ll be at the Video Saloon before the show, as we have a 2.5 hr drive (and a 1 hr time difference) coming from Central IL after I leave work at 4, but that’s where we’ll be afterwards, most likely on the pool tables or the pinball machine (which is hopefully still there, haven’t been in a year or so).
It’s *not* a fancy place (upstairs in a big, sprawling old building), but we always have a good time when we’re there. I’ve got nerd glasses and a longish, getting-whitish goatee, and Goldie has some crazy curly hair… we’re pretty easy to spot! Say “hey” if you see us around, and thanks again!
February 25, 2011 at 7:07 pm #45837BlessedParticipantTom, Stoger, Lafayette: Enjoy a lot tonight, my friends! 🙂

“Undamned” is an Over The Rhine song from their new album, The Long Surrender. Lu made a “guest appearance” on this song on the album, contributing vocals…
Well, it is 5:45 AM & stoger, Lafayette & myself just got back to Lafayette’s home in Cincinnati. Needless to say, it has been a long, but very wonderful night of music & friendship. I’ll have more details from my perspective (much) later today, as well as hopefully some decent pictures I took with my new camera. I have high hopes that at least some of the photos I took turned out well.
Good night, all…

February 26, 2011 at 3:33 pm #45841RhonParticipantI listened to The Long Surrender 4 times straight on a recent road trip. FWIW. ❗ 😉

Patience my friend, patience, please! 😀 We have these nagging time wasters such as sleep, eating, and lots & lots of driving to attend to between shows. 😉 We are basing ourselves out of Cincinnati for last night’s & tomorrow night’s shows. That’s a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive each way to each show from Cincinnati. While in town, we vist with old friends, visit w/ Tom & Lu, go to the show, etc. When we get back to Cincinnati, we visit with our hosts. Then we do it all over again.
I will have pictures & comments posted after I get home to Atlanta tomorrow night (after a 8 1/2 drive home). All in due time, all in due time…
Tom
EDIT: P.S. I have had the opportunity to briefly look on my laptop at the pictures I took last night, and I am quite please with some of them. I need to do some post-editting on them, but will get them up Monday at the very latest…

24) BlessedThanks for doing the grunt work, West Words. Where I am is at lafayette’s house, bouncing back from a fine evening with much travel and minimal sleep involved; my narrative additions here will be brief.
“Jackson” and “Crescent City” were dedicated specifically to Lu’s sister Karen, an Indiana resident in attendance last night; the siblings had not seen each other, apparently, in 7-8 years, and Karen and friend were escorted back after show to meet Lu.
By implication, song one and song seven referenced their brother Robert, though he was not mentioned by name.
Patty Loveless got quite a nod prior to song five.
“Honeybee” was called a “good bad boy song” or, alternatively, just a “good boy song.”
Song eleven is a Hank Cochran song, and 21 was written by Karin and Linford (sp?) from Over the Rhine.
Hopefully, this account will satisfy those clamoring for data.
February 26, 2011 at 10:02 pm #45847BlessedParticipantThank you very much! 😛
