Anyone know the actual start time for the show at Webster hall. tickets say door open at 6pm but wondering when the show might start… thanks all!
March 8, 2011 at 5:37 am #45704West WordsParticipantI believe I saw on Facebook that the doors open at 6, show starts at 7:30, with no opening act. 🙂
March 8, 2011 at 8:05 am #45705TOverbyParticipantThat is correct.
March 10, 2011 at 3:45 pm #45706shootspeedParticipantany idea if there is an opener for Fri/Sat night?
March 10, 2011 at 6:42 pm #45707orlananParticipantno opener, and I would guess the show will start early, 7:30, similar to Friday
March 10, 2011 at 7:35 pm #45708paul_from_losangelesParticipantIf you navigate the Webster Hall website, you can observe that, at 10 PM both nights, the Grand Ballroom (where Lucinda is playing) is transformed into a nightclub with new admission, and 2000-3000 new attendees.
Consequently, to get more Lucinda music before the room changeover, there is no opening act.

Welcome to the forum, alanuu. Do you have a set list you can post?
Any comments about the show itself? Thanks…

I didn’t write down the setlist but from memory she opened with See u So Bad, then Happy Woman Blues, some new songs interspersed with Pineola and Drunkin Angel, one of the new songs was Copenhagen, probably around 5 or 6 new songs. Metal Firecracker was aborted because of a faulty guitar, she said she would do it later but later on she made reference but did I believe real live bleeding fingers, OK getting late there was a great Joy, mighty fine Righteously, and a spot on Essence and Changed the Locks. Encores were Blessed, Joy Get Right With God.
March 12, 2011 at 6:15 am #45712gratefuljoeParticipantAlso Unsuffer Me, Honey Bee and another one of the new tunes was Buttercup. Good Show, some very high energy in spots, drummer banging away on the tubs, new guitar player was real good.

1) I Just Wanted To See You So Bad

3) Tears of Joy
4) Pineola
5) Drunken Angel – ‘This is another song about another beautiful loser’

7) Metal Firecracker – ‘This is a real bad boy song’ Aborted song shortly after beginning – ‘My guitar is out of tune, I’ll come back to it in a little bit’ (never did)
7a) Copenhagen
8- Fruits Of My Labor
9) Born To Be Loved – ‘I appreciate you coming out tonight, especially in New York City where there’s so much great stuff going on, and especially during these hard times, digging in your pockets and supporting us.’
10) Convince Me – very well-received
11) Seeing Black
12) Essence
13) Come On
14) Unsuffer Me – tour debut
15) Righteously
16) Real Live Bleeding Fingers & Broken Guitar Strings – ‘This has really been a good time – thanks again. Some friends of ours are here all the way from Spain.’ (bigsubi 🙂 )
17) Changed The Locks – ‘Thanks again for coming out tonight all the way from Espana.’
18) Honey Bee – ‘Thanks for coming out – you were a great audience. Love, peace, & revolution. Gracias!’ (the third nod to bigsubi – you rock star, you! 😀 )
Encore:
19) Blessed
20) Joy
21) Get Right With God – ‘God bless – love, peace, & revolution – workers’ rights – power to the people!’
March 12, 2011 at 1:54 pm #45714BlessedParticipantThanks for the review West Words! I was there. Lucinda amazing voice! Great job Val McCallum complements She beautifully. All the band wasted energy!!!A great evening shared with friends. Today more! 😀
March 12, 2011 at 3:57 pm #45715stogerParticipantFine job West Words: pleasure standing beside/in front of/behind you, as things shifted during the long evening, which featured a 1 hour 50 minute gap between doors and Lu walk on. You captured Lu’s bilinguality and otherwise gesturing toward our Continental guests well. After “Come On,” I caught bigsubi’s eye across the way and he thumbed-up the song, with gestures stage left; later, I confirmed he meant to endorse Val McCallum, the second guitarist he’s ever heard with Lu. As for “Metal Firecracker,” she did return to it in a sense, saying late in set “I haven’t forgotten” the song was but was never “in the mood” to do it. Ha.
Finally, note to paul in los angeles (who was right about weekend disco night circa 10 p.m.): the public restrooms at the Webster are unisex. Word to the wise.. .

Not only are they unisex, they also sell a big selection of candy in there… Only in New York. 😀 At least they had real doors vs. curtains, which I’ve seen in other NYC unisex bathrooms. 😉
March 12, 2011 at 5:27 pm #45717tonygKeymasterGreat reports! I give up. Who is the subject of Buttercup and Jailhouse Tears?
