The opener for the solo shows will be Dylan LeBlanc, a young and up and coming singer songwriter who is getting a lot of great press. He also sings on Steve Cropper’s new cd project, which is the Songs Of The Five Royales and for which Lucinda cut two tracks last week. That alone should tell what a real talent he is.
He may do all the shows but as of right now he is locked in for the solo shows.February 1, 2011 at 5:31 pm #45416TimParticipantJust read that Dylan’s influences are Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young & Spooner Oldham. Also, Emmylou Harris sang on his first record…… Not too bad.
February 1, 2011 at 9:22 pm #45417LafayetteParticipantHe’s quite impressive, words and music wise. I listened to his “World Cafe Live” interview, thanks to lwj. I’m looking forward to these solo shows!
February 1, 2011 at 11:28 pm #45418LWjettaParticipantHere is a direct quote from Lucinda’s radio interview with 13th Floor Radio New Zealand from Jan. 21, 2011
“Apparently Butch told us about this hotshot young 20-something year old
guitar player who’s chopin’ at the bit, so we might grab him.”Looks like Dylan was indeed grabbed.
Great choice Butch, Lu and Tom.
Looks like they will “truck” thru the solo tour just fine. 😆 Lucinda Williams truck.jpg[/attachment:14h0x3tm]Dylan LeBlanc’s truck.jpg[/attachment:14h0x3tm]lwj

Thought I had a good guess of Dylan, just shows the wealth of news coming out for Lu in 2011.
Now there might be another 20 something guitarist to join the tour down the road.
By the way, not only do Lu and Dylan have the truckin’ in common but he also hails from Louisiana.
Dylan’s breakout album”Pauper’s Field” is an excellent listen.
He is getting very good reviews on his current tour opening for Lissie.
Keep the news rolling Tom O.lwj

Dylan LeBlanc (pictured below; the 21 year-old Shreveport, Louisiana singer/songwriter who was just hand-picked to open for a number of Lucinda Williams dates next month) closed out his set with an atmospheric cover of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon.”
February 5, 2011 at 3:16 am #45423TOverbyParticipantDylan Leblanc is now confirmed as the opener the rest of the shows after Toronto, with the exception of NY where there will not be anyone opening.

I think Dylan emulates NEIL rather well both in appearance and talent at their young 20 something age.
Compare for yourself.NEIL solo acoustic “Old Man”

I am going Saturday….always catch Lu when she is in the area…..just not sure about this venue…!
February 25, 2011 at 12:05 am #45427TOverbyParticipantI have not been in this venue yet but I am told it is one of the best sounding rooms in NYC. It is used to be the famous Ritz, and has been completely refurbished with a new sound system. A good friend of mine in the business who lives in NY and goes to many shows said that we will love it.
There is no opening act because of the window of time we have to play and I didn’t want to have to squeeze Lucinda’s set time down too tight so it will A Night With Lucinda show.February 25, 2011 at 7:02 pm #45428orlananParticipantA Night with Lucinda show works for me. I called there and they said the doors open at 6:00….which, with no opener sounded awfully early to me.
I hope the sound is as good as you have heard; I still remember the show she played at the State Theatre in New Brusnwick and she just gushed about the quality of the sound…more than once! It obviously made her ngiht that much more enjoyable…which translated into a GREAT show!
And, a personal favorite…I hope she pulls out “Stil I Long for your Kiss”…acoustic slow version….my favorite, and somewhat relevant to my current personal situation….
Cant wait for the show!
