Lu sings “The Ballad of Lucy Jordan” on a new Shel Silverstein tribute album, Twistable Turnable Man: A Musical Tribute to the Songs of Shel Silverstein, due out June 8th on Sugar Hill Records. A sample can be listened to here.

The song was originally recorded in 1975 by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show & was also covered by Marianne Faithfull in 1979.

From the link to twistableturntable, here is what our forum member dr.winston oboogie from Scotland said about Lu’s version.

Marvellous version played it over and over, `nuff said.
Our wonderful LU hits the target yet again.
And yes I agree this could easily be bigger that the Marianne Faithfull version.

With this forum’s permission here is an original live (mimed) Marianne version from Germany Jan. 17, 1980.
Both versions are a great tribute to Shel.
    Have a listen.

By the way, the above rockpeaks data base has a wealth of great music to explore.
