This is a “test” poll on WebMasta’s software.
It will only run for 10 days.
Only can vote once after you log in.
Now let’s see if this works.

Hmmm. What, no “All of the above” choice? 😆

I spent hours and hours this afternoon trying to come to grips as to how I’m going to respond to this.

So from the 1970’s Beatles, simply “Let It Be” 😆

Come on Forum, get out there and excercise your Democratic right to vote.

Yeah, I would have chosen “All of the Above!”

    I do miss Lu.

    Good poll, lwj.

    Polls close this Friday.
    Dismal voter turn-out so far.
12 votes out of 2,077 Forum members. That’s a little more than 1/2 of 1%

But if the trend continues, we already know what the fans want first.

The data is suggesting that 20-votes/voters is about right on in terms of reflecting the direction and fabric of the regular traffickers that post and visit here… Statistics can be very useful as indicators of what is really going on. Interesting at the very least… Wouldn’t it be valuable to ask more probing questions in terms of gathering valuable data versus surface and predictable questions such as listed above? Perhaps more voters would weigh in as well…

Now is your opportunity to create your own poll DavidinMaine.
As I mentioned when I created this poll (which, I believe was the first one since the new version of the Forum was created back in 2006)

I wanted to see if the software to create polls was indeed enabled.

Y’know, LWj…I was stunned, yes, stunned I tell you, that I was the lone voter for “unreleased” Lucinda. I’ve spent many an enjoyable moment listening to Bob’s Bootleg Series. Lu must have some buried treasures worth a listen, no?

Eagerly awaiting David in Maine’s poll…

Yeah Lefty, I was absolutely torn between unreleased material (BOX SET!!!!!!), the new album & a blues covers album (and…and…and… 😉 )

OK Lefty, “Maybe this will help”
As we know in the INFO section of the site Barry Brooks has compiled a pretty comprehensive list of live appearances with songs starting in 1981 thru to Aug., 2005.
I found this extremely detailed set listing from someone in the UK from 1981 right thru to the Vogue Theatre in Indianopolis, In June 9, 2009.Includes lots of concert comments.
I’ll provide the link at the end, but here we go on perhaps “some” un-released Lucinda material.
I have not fully researched the song titles.
Perhaps WebMASTA can possibly make use the listing in the re-freshed web site.

    KUT-FM Austin 10/04/81 Bill,Song for a Jewelry Maker
KUT-FM Austin Soap Creek Saloon 06/07/84 How It Feels, All I Want, No Kidding Yourself
KPFK-FM in LA 04/14/85 In My Girlish Days, Lover of the Hour
KGSR-FM Austin 12/04/98 Come to Me Baby OK I found it on Vic Chestnut’s album
New York State Fairgrounds Syracuse, NY 08/31/99 None to report here. I’m sure you Lefty were at this one opening for the Allmans with the barker and candy floss.
Catalyst Santa Cruz, CA 09/o6/08 None to report here except the commentary proclaimed
this to be Lu Day by the Mayor and Lu joined in in playing the drums.
    And the list ends.
Here is the link and if you experts in “Luology” can find out any info on the songs I listed above, let us know.

    Hey LWJ –

I only have a second (got to go do some work), but I can provide answers for you on three of those listed tracks:

    1. “Bill” – I think this is a misnomer; on “Happy Woman Blues”, there is a song called “Hard Road”. In it, Lu sings, “from one compadre to another / I love you, Bill, as I would my brother / oh, Bill, I know how you’re feelin’ / your heart’s on fire and your head is reelin'” – so, I think this is the song to which this one refers.

    2. “Down The Big Road Blues” – this was an unreleased song that was featured on the deluxe edition / reissue of CWOAGR. It was recorded during the first “take” of CWOAGR that was never released & which can be found here & there as a bootleg often called Original Wheels.

    3. “Come To Me Baby” – this is a Howlin’ Wolf song that Lu covered for the “A Tribute To Howlin’ Wolf” album released in 1998.

The others do not ring a bell for me off of the top of my head. Bear in mind though, setlists from live shows found on the Internet sometimes contain someone’s “best guess” at a song title (like “Bill” above – since the name is prominently sung, someone might have just assumed that was the title). Another possibility, of course, is that Lu might have covered a song as a “one off”, or just occasionally, that was never released on any album, compilation or otherwise.

When I get a chance, I’ll look into some of the others.

Hey Tom I knew I’d get some expertise on this one. Thanks.
I did discover the answer for KPFK-FM in LA 04/14/85 In My Girlish Days Done by Memphis Minnie from the album Best of Memphis Minnie ( Nothing in Ramblin’ is also on the album).

Also just a thought on KUT-FM Austin Soap Creek Saloon 06/07/84 How It Feels
There is a song on Tom Petty’s album Wildflowers but from 1994 It is called “You Don’t Know How It Feels”
and very interestingly on the same album there is a song called “Honey Bee.”
So much music to explore eh?
I was impressed with the link I found-so much of Lu’s career is chronicled on it.
Think about it the set lists go back to 1981-Hence near the Lu’s 30th anniversary mark in the biz.

I can help a little here– Song For A Jewelry Maker and All I Want are early Lu songs. In My Girlish Day is a Memphis Minnie song as someone else pointed out and I have discovered a great studio version of this song recorded some time around the S/T Rough Trade record. Also on these same recordings is an earlier version of Down The Big Road Blues that is a little rougher than the one recorded during the first CW sessions.
Just a couple of weeks ago I played Girlish Days for Lu and she had completely forgotten about the song and that she had recorded it.

I’m not sure about Bill, How It Feels and Kidding Yourself but I’m sure they will turn up somewhere, as I keep going thru things.
