Thought this would be fun to post.
Quote from Miller Williams (the renowned poet)
His daughter started writing when she was 6 years old and showed an affinity for music at an early age, and was playing guitar at 12. Williams’s first live performance was in Mexico City at 17, as part a duo with her friend, a banjo player named Clark Jones.
End Quote
Here’s an early family photo of Lu with her younger brother and sister and tell me what you think is missing.
The same car appears on the back of the Car Wheels jewel case.-Maybe it’s her first car a ’57 Chevy on the way to the levee in Crescent City.
First trivia question for 2010.

p.s. Might as well hear some samples of great guitar pickin’ by Clark Jones.http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/early-american-folk-music/id266800827

March 12, 2010 at 4:43 am #42470tonygKeymasterLucinda is the oldest she has said so that must be her.
March 13, 2010 at 1:10 pm #42471LWjettaParticipantBoth tonyg and folksblues 23 are correct in their assumption that Lu is the tall one on the left, but that was not my question.
What do you think is missing?
lwjMarch 13, 2010 at 6:40 pm #42472folkblues23Participantum…a guitar?

Congratulations 🙂
Lu looks to be around age 12 in the photo.
I would have accepted wearing a straw hat as well.
As I said, just a little bit of fun to find and post.lwj
March 13, 2010 at 7:25 pm #42474folkblues23ParticipantHaha yeah, the one of the family is really interesting. Where did you find these?
March 13, 2010 at 7:36 pm #42475tntracyParticipantI’m not sure where LWJ found the photo collage, but the old photo of Lu & her siblings is on the back of the CD insert for Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Here is the real thing from CWOAGR. Y’all can really see their smiles now.
The photo is dated April, 1966, therefore Lucinda is approx. 13 years and 3 months young.@tntracy wrote:I’m not sure where LWJ found the photo collage, but the old photo of Lu & her siblings is on the back of the CD insert for Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.
The collage? I think I just googled Lucinda Williams “vintage photos”Lu and siblings.JPG[/attachment:2kjdv94g]

Thought I’d better add this one.

From Richard’s web site there are many classic photos to view.
Here is one of them.
Hayseed, Lu and Richard performing “God Shaped Hole” from Hayseed’s album “Melic” in which Lu sang a couple of duets with Hayseed. Photo was shot at the Broken Spoke in Austin SXSW 1999.Hayseed Lu and Hombre.jpg[/attachment:1h0k3yn0]And here is the link to Richard’s site.
