A bit of history to remind folks about her link with Lucinda for those who don’t remember.
Anne opened for Lu on a record 25 tour dates in 2002 on the Essence tour.
As an Australian, Anne appeared on the Rockwiz TV series.( great videos to watch )Here is Anne’s My Space site outlining her 2010 tour dates and I’m in luck to see her.
She will be appearing at the Fred Eaglesmith ( Juno winner in country music ) Charity Picnic on August 20, 2010 in Aylmer, Ontario ( about a 1 &1/2 hour drive for me).
Fred invites artists from all over Canada and the USA to this outdoor festival which raises funds and awareness on conservation matters.

lwjThose 2 places are about 3 hours north of me. I am going to keep them on my radar screen.
Anne opened for LW in Malibu a few years ago. Maybe Tom T. remembers the year. I think it was the first show without the Love Band. I was blown away by her performance. I bought a couple CDs from her and we had a nice chat. She was very pleasant.

It was October of 2006 at the Malibu Performing Arts Center.
I just got Anne McCue’s 2008 album, East of Electric. I think it is incredible…

I didn’t realize Doug Pettibone had a connection with Anne as well as Lucinda.
I knew Lu sang back up on “Koala Motel”.

Doug Pettibone joined Anne onstage in Malibu that night. They did an incredible version of “Shivers”. His pedal-steel was just sending waves of sound over us in the audience!

Anne has autographed CD’s available as part of a presale.
Here is her facebook page. I sent her a friend request and also told her we were chatting her up in Lu’s boards and I had met her briefly at Lu & Tom’s wedding reception. She sent back a nice little response.

Again, not re: Anne’s new CD , but her performance on Woodsongs Radio Hour that Lafayette introduced us to.
The show from the “Old Time Radio Hour” in Lexington, KY is # 414 in their archives.Here is the set list and some comments.
1. “As the Crow Flies” from her album Koala Motel in which Lucinda took part. There is maybe a 3 minute electric guitar riff by Anne in this one. Fantastic!
2. “Bakersfield to Saigon” on acoustic guitar followed by Anne talking about her one year sojurn in Saigon, Viet Nam playing almost nightly.
Second Set
A big surprise, Lucinda makes an announcement (audio only as she wasn’t present)-“Welcome back to Woodsongs Radio Hour, etc,”) before Anne continues.
3. “Hangman” from her album Roll. This time Anne is playing on a Lap Steel ( not to be confused with a Pedal Steel) and again a long riff by her.
The first singer on the program is pretty good too-Charlie Musselwhite.
Again, log on to the archives-select show # 414 and watch with Windows Media Player.
One problem with this is you can’t fast forward to Annes performance for a while, but be patient.
This is the best performance I’ve seen of Anne, hence my detailed intro.
I can’t wait to see her live in August here in Canada-eh

Just a post to whet your appetite until Anne’s new CD comes out.
This record called “Ballad of an Outlaw Woman” was released just at the time Anne toured with Lucinda.
This is a review which relates to where Lucinda met Anne-A bar called “The Basement” in Nashville.

The liner notes relate Anne played her first Nashville show in a bar called The Basement for 10 people, one of whom was Lucinda Williams who asked Anne to go on tour with her. This set is stripped down live with just Anne & guitar. The opener “Ballad of an Outlaw Woman” haunts, “To keep yourself alive, Got to hide what you feel inside.” “My One & Only” twists with an ache and longing, just Anne & guitar, “I said goodbye to Joey & James.” The track also appears on her CD Amazing Ordinary Things. Anne churns up a storm on Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile” that appeared on his Electric Ladyland album. lwjP.S. Here is a 7 and 1/2 minute video again from The Basement last year featuring a new song from the upcoming CD. Anne says it’s a song about desire. I’m guessing from listening that the song is called “Hey Hey Won’t You Come Out And Play” Nice solo of Anne’s guitar work at the end.
