Lu gives the intro on a new 2-CD set, 11th Edition Southern Music published by Oxford American magazine, based at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. The set is available free with the purchase of the December ’09 issue.

A copy of the magazine w/ CDs can be purchased here for $10.95…

The afternoon I started this thread, I ordered a copy of this magazine / CD set. It arrived today.

At the risk of violating copyright law, here is a link to an MP3 of Lu’s intro to the CD set, “Sweet Intro”.

(Tom, let me know if this is not copacetic & I’ll remove it. Since it is only the intro – & even contains a couple of commercial sponsor “shout-outs”! – I really didn’t think that was a strong possibility, or I would have asked first… 😉 )

Also, I have yet to actually listen to anything but Lu’s intro, but it looks like it has great potential. Here is a scan of the inner sleeve w/ all the tracks listed on the 2-CD set:

I’ll post up my impressions after I’ve given it a listen or two…

    Sweet intro is right.
“Let’s get it on” 3 times.
Wonder who is laughing in the background?
A magazine and 2 CD’s for $10.95 That’s a deal. I’m going to try and order tomorrow for shipment to Canada.

    Thanks for the post.

I still haven’t listened to the CDs (I got distracted), but I have perused the magazine & a large portion of the issue serves as very detailed liner notes for the CDs – good stuff…

Regarding the recording of Lu’s intro, a little “inside birdie” told me that there is a cool back story to the whole thing & that he’d post that up here when he gets a chance… 😉

I really appreciate that Lu gave her home state of Arkansas a mention. To often people only pay attention to the bad things they hear about Arkansas. I am proud to be from Arkansas and proud that Lucinda would claim us. Maryk, Camden, Arkansas

    Hey”inside birdie”-What’s the story?

Tnt-By the way, our local Chapters book store has ordered this issue for me. Only $12.95 and no shipping.
How do you like the songs in it?

Very eclectic mix, many of which I enjoyed, some others not so much. Pretty much what you would expect from a wide-ranging (both in style and in age) compilation.
