To track my efforts at acquiring copies of songs Lu has recorded for compilation albums, as well as other “guest appearances” (harmony vocals, duets, etc. with other artists), I developed an MSExcel spreadsheet listing all “known” (as in, that I know of thanks to allmusic.com, wikipedia.org & imdb.com) songs w/ a column to indicate whether I have a copy of the song or not and, if so, what format I have it in (so, for example, if I only have a marginal-quality 128 kbps MP3 version of a song, I can be on the lookout for a higher quality copy). I thought others here may be interested in having a copy of this spreadsheet, hence this post.
Here are links to copies of the spreadsheet in the indicated formats:
MSExcel 2004 / MSExcel 2008 for Mac (*.xlsx file)
MSExcel 2003 / MSExcel 2004 for Mac (*.xls file)
I hope some find these lists useful!

P.S. Happy New Year to all!

P.S. Also scroll down to the end and click on Bootleg for 2 or 3 hidden jewels.
Here is the artwork from one of the hidden jewels.January 1, 2010 at 12:15 am #41841tntracyParticipant@LWjetta wrote:

Dang, that artwork looks familiar. I wonder if I have that in my gig poster collection…
Thanks for the link – it might unveil an addition to my spreadsheet!

Here are 2 “unreleased” DVD’s from 2007.
Basel Switzerland and Koln ( Cologne ) Germany that it looks like we can buy.
Both feature a short clip and appear to be in very high quality. Here is the link.

Now, it’s off to my neighbours to bring in 2010.

Both feature a short clip and appear to be in very high quality.Yeah, but unfortunately, they appear to be bootlegs. I am OK (and so are Lu & Tom, as I have asked them both directly) with bootlegs of live shows traded or given away amongst fans. In fact, I have several audio-only bootlegs of Lu shows, all of which I got for free from members here or in the Lu Yahoo group. But, when they are offered up for sale, then someone is profiting from Lu’s work with no compensation to her. Call me old-fashioned, but this is something I will not support.
I know you didn’t intend to promote unauthorized & illegal sale of these materials, LWJ, and I am in no way calling you out on it. I also may be dead wrong on these being unauthorized DVDs (Tom can clarify), but I just wanted to point out to others that these DVDs might not be produced or authorized by Lu & Tom… 😉

Excellent comments. I always buy my music.
But have a look at this re: AVO Sessions 2007 from Basel.
Also look at the producer’s main page- C Major Entertainment-Looks like they have been around for a while having produced AVO Sessions for many years.
Here is the link to Lucinda’s DVD
http://www.cmajor-entertainment.com/html/all_programs.html
Scroll way down under Popular Music
Also here is a picture of the front and back of the DVD It looks to be so authentic with bar codes etc. but who knows.
Sorry it is so big, but you can get the idea.Perhaps, as you suggested TO can confirm yey or ney as to authorized.
When I first saw the sample clip, I got excited about the quality.Did you find any adds to your spreadsheet yet.
January 1, 2010 at 9:01 pm #41845tntracyParticipantIntersting – looks pretty legit to me. The main reason I questioned it was that I’ve never seen it for sale at any of the typical online retailers. Nor is listed in Lu’s official DVD releases at http://www.allmusic.com. On top of all that, Europe is a hotbed for pirating American artists because of the issues with prosecuting such cases overseas.
Tom will definitely have to weigh in on this one, but I am still leaning towards unauthorized… 😉
Tom
P.S. No adds for the spreadsheet, but check out my new post in the “Lucinda In General” forum…

I totally agree. Let’s wait to hear from TO.
In the meantime, on this New Year’s Day, here is a You Tube from the same company marketing the Basel, Switzerland Concert (Authorized or Unauthorized-That is the question )
This is from Nov./07 from Rockpalast in Koln, Germany. It was originally broadcast on WDR ( a German station )
and it is listed as a full concert on DVD.
The song is “Out of Touch” from good old Essence-except it is 7:24 in length vs the original at 5:25 and really features a great guitar riff by Lu and Doug P.
Enjoy

Ah, nice. My favorite song off of Essence, and no one can wail on the lead solo on it like Dougie P. (although Eric more than holds his own! 😉 ). Thanks for the link, LWJ…

Tnt, I see this one from 2001 on your spreadsheet.
Song is “Angels Laid Him Away” from the compilation “Avalon Blues-A Tribute to the music of Mississippi John Hart”
In case anyone hasn’t heard this sad song here it is on an anti-war film.http://www.nutsie.com/song/Angels%20Laid%20Him%20Away/7098064&album_id=7098059

January 2, 2010 at 11:01 pm #41849TOverbyParticipantThe dvd’s are definitely bootlegs. The only authorized dvd’s that Lu has are the two done by ACL. It’s easy to determine what is real and what is bootleg as Lu is signed worldwide to Lost Highway/Universal, so if its not on that label its a bootleg. While I don’t mind bootlegs being traded among fans etc., obviously I would have a big problem with people profiting off of these. It is especially disconcerting as both of these shows were professionaly filmed -especially the Cologne show which was for Rockpalast. They were the only two shows that were filmed from that tour. I am going to notify Universal in the UK to have these removed. I believe Tom tipped me off on a dvd that was being sold on Amazon in Europe and that was taken down immediately, so I do appreciate being made aware of these.

Excellent TO. Go for it-no artist should go unrewarded. All my music has been purchased at legitimate record stores. etc.
We get a little excited to see such a high quality broadcast of Lu and then start to ask questions. TnTracy is an excellent sounding board and you made a wise choice in him as the “Friendly Forum’s” new moderator.
Glad to be of help.
Happy New Year to you and Lu.Sincerely.
a big fan of some of the best music around.lwj

Aw shucks, LWJ, I’m blushin’… 😳 But thanks for the kind words.
Tom, glad you’re on the case now, and LWJ, props to you for uncovering these. And I agree with you – all my music that can be legitimately purchased is (the only exception being fan-recorded live show boots that I have traded for or gotten free). The way I look at it is, I wouldn’t want anyone taking the “fruits of my labor” (pun intended) without compensation to me, so I won’t do the same to someone else. Kind of the Golden Rule applied to music… 😉
Oh, and Tom, I am still getting a “saved search” e-mail from eBay every day for all auctions that mention “Lucinda Williams” in the auction title or description. And, I haven’t seen any bootlegs for sale lately, but if another one should pop up, you’ll be the first to know.

I know you are trying to get copies of all of Lu’s music.
I came across this one that is not listed on Wikpedia, but is on All Music.
I don’t see it on your Excel spreadsheet.
The artist is Cindy Bullens, The album is “Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth” and the song title is “The End of Wishful Thinking” from 1999. A search stated Lucinda as background vocals on this song.
Quote
Bullens called on several friends to contribute to the project: Beth Nielsen Chapman, who lost her husband to cancer five years ago, connected her with producer Rodney Crowell; Bryan Adams sang harmony on the title track; Chapman and Bonnie Raitt sang background on “I Gotta Believe in Something”; Crowell sang on “Water On the Moon,” and Lucinda Williams backed “The End of Wishful Thinking” End QuoteYou can hear a short sample and buy the clip from iTunes for $0.99.
I listened to a few of Cindy’s songs on You Tube. Great sound. Here is the link to buy the clip.

Hope this helps in your admirable quest.
