For all you Mac users out there, I just discovered this cool utility called iClip Lyrics. It will look up lyrics for any song playing in iTunes, or for any playlist (this latter feature is disabled in the trial version), and then optionally load those lyrics into the “Lyrics” ID3 tag on the MP3 or AAC file (Select “File”, “Get Info” from the iTunes menu, or Command-I with a song highlighted to see all the tags for a song). It works really well & costs only $8.95 to license the full version.

So, if you’re like me & have been meticulous over the years with all your other song tags, but have never gone to the trouble of cutting & pasting the lyrics manually on a song-by-song basis, check this utility out. Then you can read Lu’s poetry while you listen to her sing it! 😉

And, as a postscript, you can view a song’s lyrics on your iPod Classic & Nano while the song is playing (assuming, of course, you have entered the lyrics in the song’s lyrics ID3 tag in iTunes – either manually, or using the iClip Lyrics utility I mentioned above). In the “Now Playing” screen, press the iPod’s center button multiple times until the lyrics display (the number of times you have to press it depends on if you have cover art and / or ratings loaded for the song). The scrollable lyrics display on your iPod’s screen with a small thumbnail of the album cover art at the top (assuming you have that loaded as well). Pretty cool!

I can’t speak to displaying lyrics on an iPod Touch or iPhone, as I have an iPod Classic, but I imagine it is possible as these are both newer than my Classic, and have bigger screens w/ more display options, etc.

    Happy Lu iPodding!
