really good show- I brought my GF who is not really a fan, but even she enjoyed it!‘Come to me Baby’ was another I never heard before, I hope it makes it to the ‘covers’ CD.
Not quite simultaneous, my early bird LA friend. I notice Paul did not deign to mention what technically might be called song #17, or the first one in the “second set.” It was a surprising Buick 6 [re]walk on, Radiohead’s “No Surprises.” I would call it filler, but apparently there had been some forethought of it. So yes, 25 songs compared to 28 the previous night–or 26 slots counting the Radiohead cover. Only three songs–Joy, Honeybee, the AC-DC cover–duplicated.
Lu launched into a couple of “humorous asides” early in set, especially before “Right in Time” as regards the Good Morning America appearance of several years back. The late Duane Jarvis was duly acknowledged prior to “Still I Long,” and “Angel” was dedicated to the late Jim Carroll. “Tears of Joy” went out to the birthday boy, that late 40ish-looking (and very much alive and kicking) Thomas Overby. During “Steal Your Love,” Lu abandoned her superfluous guitar midway. Little else happened by way of unusual blip a la the Saturday show, and the electric fan on stage got turned on in a much more subtle manner, fairly early in set.
Thanks to all and sundry, and please don’t tempt me to stay for the third night, Forum members: the boarding pass is in the shirt pocket. Someone will nail the third night’s list no doubt, and who knows but what 30+ songs might get played. Can anyone say Ramshead a few years back?
What a night! After the first night, I didn’t think it could be any better, and, while I hate trying to “rank” shows, albums, songs, etc., this second show was easily the equal, if not indeed better.
Thanks for getting the details of the sets posted in such a timely fashion, paul_from_losangeles. “Come To Me Baby” was a welcome surprise, as was “Rarity”. From my vantage point front & center, I could see both of Lu’s set lists (the first set was on a separate list taped to the rug by Lu’s feet; the second set / encore list replaced that one after Buick 6 played their little one song interlude between sets one & two; more on that in a moment). While there were no deviations between listed & performed on the first set, there was one on the second; the set list had “Atonement / World Without Tears” between “Circles & X’s” & “Tears of Joy”, yet neither song was played (I was hoping for “Atonement”, as I have not heard Lu perform that in a while, and I love the raw grittiness of the song).
Also, the last song of the encore was on the set list as an option between “Happy” & “Long Way”; Lu & the band selected the AC/DC cover to close out the show. After the show was over & the house lights came up, Sarah & I were gathering our thoughts with our backs against the stage before going upstairs for the “meet & greet”. Nick came up behind Sarah & handed her copies of the setlists without being asked – a very nice gesture that was much appreciated. We now have set lists from both the first & second nights. I’m going to have to try & complete the “set” tonight. Sarah (understandably) always has a better shot at getting set lists than I, so she will be in the forefront at show’s end! 😉
Again this night, I think Lu’s voice was pitch-perfect – I believe I mentioned in my Night 1 comments that she is singing as well as I have ever heard her. The band was firing on all (6) cylinders again as well. Eric & Chet’s guitar work was superb, with Eric really shining on “Out of Touch” & the bluesy “Tears of Joy”. David brought out the upright bass again (stoger will have to help me on which song) and Butch, as usual, was pounding the skins with his signature energetic style.
Once again, we did not get to bed until 3:30 AM. We are planning on going to Central Park & renting a couple of bicycles and leisurely riding through the park & having a deli picnic lunch on the grass this afternoon. It is nice & crisp outside, with bright blue skies & a forecast high of 72 degrees. It should be a wonderful day to be in the park, but I have to be sure & save the last of my energy for tonight!

Ah, I forgot to elaborate on the early “tease” in my comments about Buick 6’s one song interlude between sets one & two, but I see stoger covered that admirably in the comments that he posted as I was typing mine in… 😉

No, there is no opening act.

Hi Folks, Just writing a short note to share how wonderful it was to see Lucinda so up close and personal Night #2 in NYC. This was the first time we had seen her at the Fillmore and it was absolutely a great show. We got there a little early and it was great to be right there leaning on the stage. LUCINDA, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
I’m also writing with the hopes that the dork in the Dylan t-shirt and the drunk bimbo he randomly hooked up with will read this. You know who you are. DUDE, YOU’RE RUDE! and it has nothing to do with rock & roll. Your clapping during the songs was off-beat and your yapping during the most intimate & heartfelt songs had the potential of getting you seriously mamed. RANDOM DRUNK GIRLFRIEND, the singing was out of key and, oh yeah, get tested. Please confess to your boyfriend you left home. Yep, everyone heard the whole story…skank.
To the rest of you LW fans, I apologize if I’ve broken some sort of forum code of ethics or something, but these clowns were way out of line. Anyway, Peace Out!
One of our more unusual reviews but thanks for the report. Hopefully none of our guys were wearing their Dylan T-shirts to the show. 😉

that is why in the small venues I like to sit/stand in back; less distractions to the music.
I feel badly that your night had to have these distractions…
Maybe it’s just me, but It also gets a little annoying when people yell out requests- I’d rather just let the show flow naturally…
