Thanks for posting the setlist…

September 26, 2009 at 4:18 pm #40746stogerParticipantYes, thanks for posting: though one wants to know which side of the virgule (that’s slash mark in the vernacular tongue) she went with on a couple of those slots. Like Lefty, I crave comments too. Where’s Disco Stu when you need him? Or ma Lafayette: great job with Bloomington, by the way.
September 26, 2009 at 4:40 pm #40747syrahsyrahParticipantI thought this was a fun and rowdy show! The show was a 30 year retrospective and spanned all of Lu’s albums played in a chronological order. Lu was in great spirits, sometimes laughing and sometimes crying between songs. Lu mentioned the songs evoked strong memories and she seemed to relish re-visiting them. I really enjoyed the stripped down versions of some of the tunes – Lu acoustic, David on upright bass and Chet on mandolin. All in all, a great evening!
Big Red Sun and 2 Cool were played. Am I Too Blue and Jackson were not played.
BTW, The Buick 6 opened the show and played for 45minutes.

September 26, 2009 at 9:38 pm #40750LafayetteParticipantThanks for posting syrah and reindeers!
Looks like we’re 4 for 4 on this leg of tour. Stoger should make it 5 for 5 tonight?
September 26, 2009 at 9:49 pm #40751RainydaymanParticipantThe show was freakin’ awesome. I was seated in the orchestra pit. The sound in the theater was pristine. “Jambalaya” was indeed cool. Lu re-told the story of Roger, the Viet Nam vet, when she introduced the song “Are You All Right. The first song was just Lu, Chet, and Eric. Then for “Jambalaya” Butch played a single snare drum with brushes, standing close to the front of the stage. David played the upright bass on a few songs and even played it with the bow on one of them. I wish I could remember which one. Later on Chet also played pedal steel, keyboard, and harmonica. This was the first time I heard some of the earlier tunes live and they were beautiful.
The venue was great and the ushers were relaxed. The local micro beer they served was very high gravity. People were allowed into the pit to dance.
September 27, 2009 at 12:19 am #40752steveParticipantExcept that she didn’t play all of those songs.
Missed “Sweet Side.” Would have been nice to hear. She played “Righteously” instead. The woman sitting next to me had never been to a show and came only because she’d heard “Righteously” on a sampler CD.
When she came out for the encore, someone in the crowd yelled, “AC DC!” and she promptly broke out “Long Way to Rock and Roll.” Then played “Joy.” By then it was 11:10 pm and the house lights came up.
A great show in general, but a sad day when I saw that Doug Pettibone wasn’t on the stage. His subtle, yet powerful guitar was greatly missed. The new guy, while a great player, was way too loud when he should have been quieter (like on “Tears Of Joy”).
I was a fan before Doug joined the band, and I’ll be a fan after, but Doug Pettibone really made these songs come alive the last few years.

September 28, 2009 at 2:18 pm #40756RainydaymanParticipantHey Courtners,
I saw you standing to my left in the pit and commented to my girlfriend, “This will be on YouTube tomorrow morning.” Nice videos. The framing is like pro shot. So the ushers (standing right behind you) didn’t mind you filming? Just curious. Thanks for posting.
September 28, 2009 at 3:39 pm #40757courtnersParticipantI was surprised by that as well. Talk about a laid back venue. I figured I might as well be out in the open about it and ask for forgiveness if hassled. I’m glad I filmed it and very happy with how it turned out…
Here is the Jambalaya, before we made a move to the pit:

What a show! Such a legend, to see her in such an intimate venue was priceless. And Buick 6 kicks ass.
Love ya Lucinda!
