Nice show in Paris July 23. Set list similar to Lucerne (didn’t bother logging it). Ended with a very nice solo acoustic guitar rendition of Hendrix’s “Angel.” Very much un-glam and dressed down.
Set list almost didn’t matter, as she played “2 Kool” . . . .
Oh, I bothered to log the setlist, though only two songs were different from Luzerne. The atmosphere was nicely different, though. Who would have thought I could walk in a few minutes after Buick 6 finished and nab a front row seat in the center aisle? Front row at Paris Alhambre = knees literally bumping stage. Surprised there were seats, since it was a GA show. Merci to “the twins” (les doubles en francais?) for their adjacent enthusiasm and grace.

20 ANGELDespite the obvious superiority to the Switzerland venue, Lu seemed tentative at times in Paris. I kept thinking she wanted to speak en francais, but she never did. Tour manager Eric told me afterwards she was “angry,” but Tom said no just tired–which seemed to fit when she finally emerged circa midnight to sign a few, smiling. This was a different venue from first Paris show, I understand.

Arrived @ 7:30 pm & just get the only free parking place in front of the entrance door 8)
seated with my 2 bro in the left balcony in this place called alhambra (firts time in this small club, all places are seated places 😕 kind weird coz i like to “dance” like as was in a disco club during sketchy/rock tracks)Lu seems to be more at ease than the last show in Paris (trabendo) & she kicks out this place 😀
What’s about the after show?any people taking pictures with Lu & autographing stuff…

=>hope she played Greensville 😥 one of my Lu’s favourite tunes.stoger: Thanks for posting the set list. It was a good show, but the Paris crowd (including myself, I suppose) was reserved, as it often is. Kudos to her for performing well without a lot of energy coming back to her from the audience.
When I picked up my tickets about a week before the show, I was told there would be no seats so I was surprised to arrive and find that there was seating. Which was good. I was in about the 7th row center.
How many times has she played Paris? I was aware of the show that preceded this one a while ago, but had she been here before that?

Very nice show tonight (July 23) at the Alhambra in Paris. Better than I thought it would be. Almost 2 hours. First time seeing her live, am a late-arriving fan, not a crusader.She played “2 Kool,” so the rest hardly mattered (for me).
Buick 6 played a bit of space music to open; first tune jammed on “Pipeline,” last quoted (extensively) Zep’s “Black Dog.” Great heavy rocking sound and appropriate levels of virtuosity.
She was dressed down, un-glam, brunette shag with a few stray blonde streaks. Seemed like a stage hand when she walked out.
Self-deprecating remarks about the lyric sheets mounted on a music stand. Consulted them for reassurance rather than as a crutch.
Lots of acoustic at the beginning, shifted to a silver-glittered Tele in the second half.
Closed with a nice solo acoustic version of Hendrix’s “Angel.”
Commented on the heat and humidity — Paris has been very hot and humid these past few days, it’s quite true. Not a lot of interaction with the crowd. Could have been anywhere. But a full and complete effort.
Biggest impression — one was in the presence of an artist and not someone who thought being in a rock band would be a neat way to make a living. Not quite of the world as the rest of us are. Brooding, a bit self-destructive, but always observing and connecting dots unperceived by you and me.
Second biggest impression — rock star as all-conquering master, but itself a disguise for an intensely vulnerable woman. Vulnerable, but not to be messed with. One who is living out her testimony.

Originally the concert was planned without seats (except in the balcony) but with a lot of people on holiday out of town it made sense to leave the seats in – I think the gig worked better seated ’cause it was hot and the audience were more comfortable not standing up. Lucinda probably paced her show for a stationary crowd. She was real happy afterwards and seemed to have enjoyed herself – and it was great to see her chatting signing and having pictures taken with fans before she got in the tour bus after midnight. It did indeed work better with the seats. It would have been very difficult standing through the whole show given the mini-heat and -humidity wave in Paris this week.

Thank you. I am only a casual fan (the reason I didn’t write down her set list is because I know only a handful of her songs by name). She made a tremendous impression and opened all those little emotional boxes that only artists or one’s true intimates ever manage to open.
Spent the whole day working out “2 Kool” on the guitar. I’m getting there!!
Wow, great stuff in this stream: Tom Tracy’s bilinguality may be the biggest revelation of the bunch! Anyway, Corcovado, do I translate your words to mean I am being asked to choose between les jumeaux as to which I prefer? Oh my. They were lovely front row young ladies, seated in the second and third chairs center aisle, stage left (that is to say, we three were slightly right of stage, me in first chair). I will have to reserve preference in this matter. Tous les deux, let’s say. They got stuff signed and met Lucinda after.

This was just the second time – she first came in november 2007 – when there was a transport strike so a lot of people couldn’t get to the venue (le Trabendo) in July 2009 a lot of people couldn’t get to the venue because they were on holiday.

I remember learning about the November 2007 show about two days after it had already taken place. The strike indeed made everything more difficult.
I very much enjoyed seeing her live, and I hope you are able to encourage her to tour Europe on an annual basis. The Alhambra was a nice venue for her and the evening went very well, even if we in the audience were a bit low-key. Thank you for helping her put on a good show.
