OK, my friend stoger seems to be sleeping in this fine morning, so I will step in, blearily post what I have, with caveats & apologies to all, and let stoger correct me later. I say that, because follows is a setlist that Sarah snagged after the show. I didn’t take notes, mentally or otherwise, instead depending on the ever infallible memory of the aforementioned stoger:

Long Way to the TopI swear Lu did “Righteously” & “Changed the Locks” earlier in the set, but, again, I defer to the superior memory here. Also, “Marching the Hate Machines” was listed as an encore possibility on the setlist, but Lu did not get to it.
The audience, albeit of the “sit-down” variety, was exuberant & energetic. Lu was in great voice & spirits, and gave a wonderful performance. I remember noting that she seemed to have everyone in the palm of her hand during “Plan To Marry”. Unlike so many audiences these days, this one became silent, no chit-chat, while she stood on stage & sang. You could have heard a pin drop between her words…
Lu remarked a couple times that the room had great sound. The Brown Theater, decidedly NOT at The Kentucky Center, was a comfortable, beautiful venue. We have really enjoyed our stay in Louisville, going to see a few races at Churchill Downs & exploring the riverfront on the Indiana side. The show was a great climax to our visit to Kentucky / Indiana. We leave for Missouri shortly.

Thanks, TNT, for your early report. Many “West” appearances lately. A two thumbs up on those selections.
Happy to hear you enjoyed Louisville. I consider Kentucky home, growing up about an hour and a half north of Louisville.
Safe travels to you and yours, stoger, and anyone else on the road to Missouri.

Wow, the pressure’s really on here for me to live up to my posting legacy. I prefer Lafayette’s term “additions” to TN Tracy’s “corrections,” but here goes. You’re solid on the first baker’s dozen, Tom, but I think you imagined that “Drunken Angel” got done: understandable case of Blaze Foley overload. So I’ll just list post-“Pineola” here, as I recall the sequence.

24 It’s a Long Way to the TopTrue, “Real Love” and “Unsuffer Me” did not get performed. If you read Lafayette’s link to the article, you know terms like “a tickle” in the throat, “pure honey” as remedy for same, and “allergic to Nashville” (which is a couple of hours from Bonnaroo, but we get it) were all uttered by Lu around the fourth/fifth song of the set. And if “Learning How to Live” turned out indeed to be “the world’s longest song,” the tune “Pineola” last night could well be called the world’s shortest. I thought Lu had recovered her equilibrium around the time of “Plan to Marry” and “Side of the Road,” but songs 10-16 went by almost in a flash–not only no talk between, but not even a cursory intro by title for any of them. The mood seemed back to the good by the very end of the main set, smiles during the last two.
Butch urged us near the end of Buick 6’s set to be “standin’ and dancin'” during the headliner set, but no one really took this literally, though Tom is right that the crowd was good by reserved seat standards. Susannah said later a couple of fans tried to lobby for that free shirt for real, but no one pressed it, settling happily for the usual discount. This kind of offer was made by Lu between songs 6 and 7, prefaced by “this show isn’t up to my standards.”
Covington patrons might want to know that the setlist-grabbing, beer-drinking, photographer-interfering fan was back for more; he told me beforehand that he had driven up on spur of moment, bought a row S ticket on site. Really not so bad a guy as his non-sober Covington behavior might suggest him to be. “Fancy seeing you here” was his greeting to me in the brewhouse across the way.
So it’s on into the central time zone now, where it’s mere high noon at moment. Not as much of a “sleep in” as you imply, my friend TN. See you up front in Mizzou country. . .
Additional comments truly appreciated. It’s almost like being there. A virtual Lu show.
Lefty, I pronounce it as Lou.ah.ville, I believe many locals prefer to say Loo (as in LU).ville, and someone, like my friend from NJ, was pronouncing it as it is spelled, as in the name Louis.ville. I told her that was a first for me to hear.Also, Louie.ville is another take.
Cincinnati is the same way, I have heard it pronounced Cincinnat.ah, usually the older generation (as in much older than me) 🙂 .
