24 It’s A Long Way to the TopWell, I can’t say exactly how many tour debuts this marked, SINCE NO ONE HAS STEPPED UP TO POST THE GREEN BAY REPORT (Susannah said that show went well, a continuation of the casino fervor). Still, wouldn’t you say a half dozen new ones to this tour? I was blown away by the two early West selections especially. Lu didn’t say much at all between songs (save for the usual Blaze Foley hagiography), but she was happy. Packed house. Would love to see that Get Right with God belt buckle again.
Butch outdid himself before the final Buick 6 number: “one quick announcement: when Lucinda comes out, do not hold back. She wants it all.”
For the second time, my loitering near the merch booth enabled me to field, successfully, a fan/consumer question passed on to me by Susannah. No, the song Lu covers over the closing credits to Talladega Nights is not on any of her studio records, nor live recordings. Still, the patron made a purchase, and all parties smiled.
Lafayette, I’ll be yours soon.

June 10, 2009 at 2:42 pm #39778tntracyParticipantStoger, we are so spoiled having you as the “official” tour chronicler that when there is even one show that apparently no one from the forums attended to post a setlist / report, it seems like an aberration when, in fact, without your reports, it would be the norm. Thanks again for a great report. And, what a varied setlist – I think Lu is mixing it up so well just for you… 😉

Bring your rain slicker, stoger, the flipping forecast is nothing but RAIN.
Thanks for the show report and setlist. I was logging in early this morning, waiting, with even more intensity. Having Lu in one’s backyard does that.
If by chance you read this before you depart for Covington, as you near the Ohio state line and veer down I 74 (i’m assuming this will be your route) tune into WNKU 89.7. I’m sure JP, the afternoon host, will be playing a tune or two of Lu’s and talking about tonight’s show. I love, love the music he spins.
June 10, 2009 at 3:40 pm #39780LafayetteParticipantSeveral accolades on twitter regarding Lu’s show last night at The Vogue. Sorry, I coudn’t resist posting this one…
mwaye The Lucinda Williams concert last night was pretty awesome. Her band kicked all kinds of *ss. I totally want them on my side in a bar fight.
June 10, 2009 at 7:06 pm #39781LeftyParticipantGlad you’re back on the case, stoger – – thank you.
Maybe we could bribe Susannah to post the occasional missing set list… 🙂June 10, 2009 at 7:31 pm #39782tntracyParticipant@Lefty wrote:

Now there’s a thought. Another “roving reporter” – a female perspective, to boot. She could kind of be a “Lois Lane” to stoger’s “Clark Kent”… 😀
