April 6, 2009 at 2:40 pm #39391LeftyParticipantThanks for the set list, j-wd. Cartwheels is Car Wheels, yes? Or, did a new song debut? 😉
April 6, 2009 at 7:34 pm #39392stogerParticipantWouldn’t that hurt the tips of one’s fingers to perform cart wheels on a gravel surface? I think tires can take it better. Still, thanks.
April 6, 2009 at 8:01 pm #39393parkercaParticipantMy wife thought it was “CartWheels On A Gravel Road” for the longest time. 😆 😆
April 6, 2009 at 9:21 pm #39394skipperParticipantThanks for the setlist joneswd, much appreciated.
April 6, 2009 at 9:57 pm #39395joneswdParticipantSorry – your’re correct. It was Car Wheels (slip of a finger!)
April 6, 2009 at 10:50 pm #39396paul_buschParticipantAhhh my love affair with Lucinda remians solidified. Been over 5 years since I saw her with the old band and The Jayhawks on Rhode Island…and what a difference a 1/2 a decade makes. The hair back to black, no drink in her hand telling tales and ramblin, and Buick 6 are about as solid as The Stones or The Faces. What a rock and roll show!
And yes, people sitting on their asses…well you can understand it for the first 1/2 of the show…but the last hour was cooking.
I was standing stage left and was the dude dancing….think there were 3-4 of us up there…and that was it.
Lookin forward to tonights show and hearing some different tunes again….Lake Charles would be a nice touch…fingers crossed.
What a week…Lu 2x, Ben Harper, Drive By Truckers with Booker T and Alabama 3 to end this Easter Week! Where’s the chococlate….I got the munchies!April 6, 2009 at 10:56 pm #39397paul_buschParticipantAnd Jonesy…take the night off….or lose some sleep….who the hell knows when Lucinda will be back!
Did anyone else out there have tickets for that cancelled show….I was slightly annoyed, I had a 1/2 dozen in the first row…..
Oh well….this is making up for it big time….
Love youse all!
April 22, 2009 at 3:13 pm #39389captnbliParticipantWell, it’s a while later and I still think this show was just so awesome! Really. I bought all the live albums from NY and Cal ages ago, and was not expecting what we got. Lucinda and the band were faultless in terms of the sound.
The only thing is, why, oh why, Lucinda, did you have to do three encore songs that were covers?!?!?! You are the best, and I, for one, wanted to hear more of your songs. Not someone else’s. 👿
The albums from maybe 18 months ago showed a performer that was not comfortable with her talent. Starting again, and being hesitant. I am wondering if it were the same underlying cause with the Sydney set list. The Sydney Morning Herald review mentioned the same thing, so it’s just not me.
We want to hear your songs Lucinda, all night long (and in to tomorrow if possible) 😀
Cheers!
The Captn.May 10, 2009 at 1:26 pm #39390TasmanParticipantI went to the Melbourne show on the 1st of April.
I was disappointed with the finish of 5 encores. All covers. I must say not up to the standard of the originals. She has sooo many fantastic songs. Why play covers??
We didn’t get “Car wheels..”, “Out of touch” or so many other great songs she could of played.
I spoke to a lot of concert goers in the foyer after the show and the response was the same.
Yes the production was excellent. The band and Lucinda were tight.
But choice of songs. Questionable.Tas
