It’s always a special night when Lucinda plays with her father in the audience, because she’s always a little extra nervous when he’s there but it always ends up being a great night. She wanted to do something special for him last night so she and the band worked up a beautiful version of Hank Williams’ Cold Cold Heart, who has always been one of favorites-and he has a great story about meeting him one by accident. He was beaming when she played that as he knew why she did it. This was probably the best show i’ve seen her do in Fayetteville and at the end of the night everyone in the room was standing and singing along to Long Way and one of Miller’s very best friends was the first person to jump up and start pumping his fists.

Wow. Wish I was there (how often have I said THAT after a Lu show? 😆 ).
And, as a huge Hank Williams fan, do me a favor, Tom & drop Lu a hint about repeating that performance of “Cold Cold Heart” this tour, would ya? Not only is it one of my favorite Hank Williams’ tunes, but I also love the cover of it Lu did as a bonus track that I have on the Japanese import version of WWT. Hearing it live would be an incredible treat…
As for the other treat from this show, I have been lucky enough to hear Lu perform “Ode to Billy Joe” live – at the Ryman no less. It was 4 or 5 years ago, and it was simply awesome.
Thanks as usual for the set list / show report. Between you & stoger, we got it all covered this tour!!!

I would love to hear this song again. I also saw her in Nash. at The Belcourt Theatre with her Dad for a night of songs & poetry. Doug was her only accompanyment. That was also a great show. I was there as well!
We have good taste in Lu shows, musiclover… 😉

The image of geriatric types jumping up and boogying near show’s end warms the cackles of my [rapidly aging] heart. Let’s hope we’re all as limber a couple of decades from now. TN Tracy, see you soon.

There was indeed a reprise in B’ham. Perhaps there will be others…
