Rough Trade Deal

I was reading the interesting posts on Lu’s deals at various labels, and I wondered if anybody has some info on her Rough Trade signing. As the label was a well known UK indie label (with bands like The Smiths)this is of no little interest to me.

So, how did the signing first come about, and how come she didn’t stay on the label? And did she ever visit the UK to seal the deal or play the UK as it was there the label was principally known?

Any facts on this period in Lu’s career would be most welcome.
