How was the show last night?

I saw here there a year ago July; great venue!

Looking forward to seeing her tonight in KC. Have had the CD since last week, so have become familiar with the new tunes. I think several of them are instant classics, Knowing being one of them. I’m not sure if I’ve seen it on any setlists shared to date. Tears of Joy is another great tune, and she seems to be doing it regularly.

I’m always happy to hear what Lu wants to share for the evening!

I was privileged to stand beside the legendary “Beatle Bob” for this show, a figure known to St. Louisans and to roots festival-goers of all stripes. It’s insane how front and center I got at 8:05, though one could have strolled up five minutes after Buick 6 ended and still hugged the rail easily. The boys were in fine form by the way, and this was the merch table debut of their disc, on “Gravel Road Records.” Twelve groovy instrumental grooves + a rollicking alternate take of “Well Well Well” which owes more to psychedelia than to rockabilly. And don’t neglect the cover art, featuring a photo of a gagged, goggle-eyed gun moll. Unlike Nashville, the center mike was live in St. Louis when guitar tech Wolfie introduced the “instrumental stylings of Buick 6.” Doug has renamed the Zep tune “Hairy Baby.” Three hours of jam-packed entertainment, great evening.

Thanks for checking in, stoger. Without checking prior setlists (laziness), seems like Lu hasn’t done “Changed the Locks” a lot…

    edit: my bad…looks like she has… 😳
I’ll go back to sleep now…

Hey, thanks for the update! Beatle Bob is a KC/Lawrence fixture as well. Last saw him at the Wakarusa Festival a year or two ago.

Fine set list, but I’m always real partial to Essence. Change the locks seems to be showing up regularly.

I’ll be splitting work and heading for KC soon. It’s going to be great rockin’ with Lu and the Boys! Last time I saw her in KC was at the Beaumont Club, which was a great place to see her.

    Stoge,

What a great set list, thanks for posting it. Plenty of songs off even her earliest albums. SAWHWWT is a personal favortie.

Wow, that would be a dream setlist. I’m always up for Pineola, and I Just Wanted To See You So Bad, Something About What Happens When We Talk, and Happy Woman Blues (how long since she pulled that one out, eh?) in the same set would be close to perfect.

Can’t wait to see her in Madison on Saturday…

Fistfights No, Great Songs, Yes: A St. Louis Setlist

i’d get in a fistfight to see this show…
    well, maybe arm wrestle…
hope they’re not too tired and they still have some of that mojo left by the time they roll into LA and Ventura
there are days off in between/they “should” be rested…ha……..
i’d be at the fillmore shows too, but i’ll be at pappy and harriet’s all weekend.

since we have a poll going……
as a working class hero, who gets up at 5am five days a week to get to work by 7…

who had to pass on a van morrison POOL TICKET at the hollywood bowl for astral weeks (cuz i can pay for 10 other shows for the price of one van ticket)

i’ll plunk my hard earned dollars down, to support the cause for the wiltern and that pesky weekday show at the historic ventura theater (driving 100 miles roundtrip for ventura alone)
hence doing my part to stimulate the economy……
only thing lucinda HAS to do…….is

play side of the road and the night’s too long……….
is that too much to ask???? 😉

    hahahaha…….now i’ve jinxed myself so she WON’T!!!!
i’m gonna have fun no matter what they play, i always do….
the last show i heard was santa cruz, outdo that one lucinda! (no pizza tho)

After ripping the CD I got at last night’s Atlanta show on my Mac to put on my iPod, I couldn’t find the cover art anywhere on the Internet to add to the ID3 tags on the songs. So, I scanned my own, then remembered this “gun moll” discussion and figured some forum members who haven’t made it to a show yet would like to see the cover art for themselves…
